Pepsi's latest ads are taking Pakistani cricketers down memory lane. Here's why

Immad Wasim, Waseem Akram and many others are reminiscing the iconic partnership between the brand and PCB.
Updated 01 Jun, 2022

Pepsi recently released two new commercials with the hashtag #NoticeKiya, featuring cricketing celebrity, Babar Azam and our favourite rap duo, Young Stunners.

And just like us, the campaign has sent cricket fans and celebs spiraling down a wave of nostalgia at the hands of the brand's latest collaboration with PCB.

Here's us discussing some of the key moments of the campaign:

Cricketers like Shahid Afridi, Waseem Akram, Shoaib Malik and others have something to say

PepsiCo and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) hold a long-standing partnership with each other which goes back to a couple decades to the time we found icons in big cricketing names like Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram.

Remember this commercial from the year 1992?

Upon release, the campaign garnered immense appreciation and applause from some Pakistan's greatest cricket icons who wrote warm notes online remembering the good old days and cheering on Babar Azam for becoming the face of such a partnership and taking the legacy forward.

Here's what's actually going on:

Shahid Afridi is applauding Pepsi and Babar Azam for bringing their 'A-game' to the campaign

Shoaib Malik feels Babar Azam is 'having the time of his life'

Wasim Akram got reminded of the 'good old days' on the field

Imad Wasim applauds Pepsi for 'continuing to bleed green' and Babar Azam for his great performance

We say there can't be a better word for the partnership than 'iconic'

Fawad Alam seems to agree.

Like countless fans of cricket, Hasan Ali is proud to see Pepsi & Pakistan's cricket team 'at it again'

Shadab Khan feels Babar Azam gave a 'smashing performance'

Some fans have found a new favourite in the DVC

Some say Babar Azam is going to rule this decade

We agree!

Some want him to break Sachin Tendulkar's records

This one's reminiscing Pepsi's golden campaigns from the yesteryears

Let us know what you think about this partnership in the comments below.

It has been suggested that consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages may be associated with 184,000 deaths annually worldwide: 133,000 from diabetes, 45,000 from cardiovascular disease and 6450 from cancer

Promoting sugar sweetened beverages for money is highly irresponsible by our cricketing stars. You are just telling people to drink more of the sugar containing drinks.

Non communicable disease have a huge burden of disease. Most of them are preventable and result of the modern day life style which includes un healthy foods and drinks (like soft drinks) World needs to take this seriously and not delay like we did with Tobacco. It should be part of corporate social responsibility to avoid publishing such advertisements.

Seems pepsi is better than fresh juices and milk shakes n smoothies. All the physically fit hard core sports personalities drink Pepsi 3 times a day. All things that are bad for you are promoted more aggressively. Nothing happened to Wasim Waqar but look at their Pepsi Gen who can not even walk at 40 and have chronic diabetes plus plus due to Pepsi a day.

The real pandemic is diabetes...pepsi is by no means a vaccine against it, even if portrayed well by sports professionals..let's just admit it that 8 teaspoons of sugar in a single bottle is no good for man or beast.

We are literally obsessed with everything unhealthy. Be it sugar, oil, animal fat, fatty dairy products (full fat milk/desi ghee) lack of exercise or for that matter pollution. We need some rude awakening.
