Several Pakistani celebrities recently took to social media to express their heartbreak over the tragic loss of life after an earthquake rocked parts of Balochistan on Thursday.

At least 15 people were killed while more than 150 were injured after a 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck near the province's Harnai district. Tremors were felt in Quetta, Sibbi, Pishin, Muslim Bagh, Ziarat, Qila Abdullah, Sanjavi, Zhob and Chaman, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority. It said the "exact damage" has not yet been confirmed.

Many expressed their sadness over the unfortunate news. Actor Ayesha Omar called the event "heartbreaking" and sent prayers for the "victims and their families".

Writer Fatima Bhutto also shared her thoughts on the tragedy. "Terrible to read about the earthquake in Balochistan and to think how it will make people even more vulnerable to the onset of cold and spread of Covid-19," she tweeted.

"Terrible to wake up to this sad news," cricketer Babar Azam shared via Instagram Stories. "Prayers for the lovely and brave people of Balochistan. I hope and pray that the situation remains under control with immediate rescue efforts. Stay safe and strong Balochistan," he wrote.

Singer Umair Jaswal also shared the news.

Actor Adnan Siddiqui also tweeted out prayers for the families of the victims.

"Prayers for everyone in Balochistan. May Allah keep everyone safe," tweeted actor and singer Fakhr-e-Alam.

Our hearts go out to the people of Balochistan, especially the grieving families who have lost loved ones.
