Members of the Christian community in Maharashtra, India have filed a police complaint against Kareena Kapoor Khan over the title of her new book — Pregnancy Bible. The community has taken offence to the inclusion of the word "bible" in the title and accused Kapoor of hurting religious sentiments.

According to Times of India, Alpha Omega Christian Mahasangh President Ashish Shinde submitted a police complaint over the book against Kapoor and two others on Wednesday.

Kapoor launched her book Pregnancy Bible on June 9. The actor had taken to Instagram to announce the launch. Calling the book her "third child", she made the announcement soon after she gave birth to her second son with actor Saif Ali Khan in February.

"This book is a very personal account of what I experienced both physically and emotionally through both my pregnancies," she stated on Instagram.

"This has been quite the journey… both my pregnancies and writing my Pregnancy Bible. There were good days and bad days; some days I was raring to go to work and others where I struggled to get out of bed." said Kapoor.

A police officer confirmed to the Times of India that the complaint had been registered but no FIR has been filed yet. The injured party filed the complaint in the wrong city. The complaint was filed in Beed but have been advised to file it in Mumbai, where the book is being printed.

Indeed it is disrespectful to Christians. Imagine if she would have named it Pregnancy Ahadith or Pregnancy Gita. The uproar amongst the Muslims and the Hindus would have been insane. Atleast the Christians are being peaceful and not issuing a fatwa on her :)

You don't need a pregnancy book from a celebrity. Just call it "Pregnancy for Dummies".

India has failed miserably as a secular country. Modi has destroyed the secular fabric of society. Kareena like other Indians hates other religious communities and believes in akand Bharat.

@Siddhartha Whoever told you this is secularism? The Congress' farcical & cynical use of secularism is starting to hurt the very cause of secularism itself. This is nothing but theatrics by attention-seeking groups.

@Babar People need to learn how not to get offended. This whole cottage industry of "religious sentiments being hurt" is another form of fascism.

Agree with the Christian group. Could have literally called it anything else. Why risk hurting the religious sentiments of Christian community? Maybe, she wanted to be in the limelight with this antic.

@Jasper Why risk hurting the sentiments of Christian community? Why risk this? What kind of question is that? Maybe you can try asking this question during other situations too. You might find your answer. Like: "Why risk hurting the sentiments of the female community?" "Why risk hurting the sentiments of religious minority communities?" "Why risk hurting the sentiments of the LGBT community?"

This is precisely why one should understand the nuances of a language. The word" Bible" indicates any book, reference work, periodical, etc., accepted as authoritative, informative, or reliable. There are several books published bearing that title, for instance, " The birdwatchers Bible", or " The Carpenter's Bible" etc . And these are available all over the world and particularly in countries having a predominant Christian population. Because they understand the implications of that word, "Bible", no one has a problem with it. People just need to learn, grow up and get past their preconceived prejudices.
