Sanam Saeed calls out Shireen Mazari for her silence on PM Imran's statement

Make a list of the people who get raped everyday to show Imran Khan how outrageous his statement is, she told the minister.
23 Jun, 2021

After Prime Minister Imran Khan's comments linking women's clothes to rape and Pakistani men's inability to control their temptations around those wearing "very few clothes" went viral on social media, actor Sanam Saeed has called out Federal Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari on her silence.

She has asked the minister to deliver a message to the prime minister.

In a recent post on Twitter, two days after the premier's interview in which he made these comments went viral, Saeed wrote "Dear Shireen Mazari, please draw up a list for Imran Khan, of men, women and children raped everyday regardless of how they were dressed so that these outrageous and problematic statements are never made again."

Saeed isn' the only Pakistani celebrity calling out the premier for his statement. In fact, people across the country have spoken up to condemn what he said.

As someone who has in the past called for women to be united and spoken up about problematic statements made by others, Mazari has been rather silent about the premier's comments. Saeed is making sure she knows that it's time to speak up — it's now or never.

Mother of the children of Imran Khan's reply to Imran on this matter is very practical and sufficient for him, if he is real. Even she quoted from Qur'an, for his further information.

Good call but Shirin Mazari can't talk right now since a grand PTI and PPP alliance is in the offing with important meetings happening in Lahore backed up by establishment.

Once Ms. Mazari is done painting her hair purple and is camera ready only then she will lip sync to what PTI wants her to say. Moreover she is being told that if she talks her daughter's shenanigans will be revealed. Do try to understand that her hands are tied.

All these tweets from the Pakistani celebrities are just to please their international audience to get attention, after airing full interview of PM by the PM office there is no point in raising such concerns.

It’s common sense , if a woman goes out in public , displaying her charm , and displaying her body , she is most likely going to come under the eyes of ruffians , and most likely be harassed , and what else ,if she is going to do that , she better have a guard with her.

I entirely agree with PM's comment. This is the reality of many women are being raped. Yeah, definitely clothes matter a lot. Unfortunately, we close our eyes to see the reality with circumstances that make the era of the living complex.

@mazhar the point is, no woman in Pakistan goes out showing any skin - yet there are shockingly high number of rapes. And how do you explain the rape of so many young boys?

Don't accuse women carelessly. I was wearing full clothes, my hair were tied in bun and for all those who are lambasting women, I was not being provocative!!, I still got groped in market. I was cat-called. I had to confront the man who did it, an had no shame. How fo you justify this?. It is not clothes, it is mindset. Women are NOT objects !.

Yes true, hundreds of rapes happen where clothes do not play a part, maybe all of them, but Imran Khan also didn't say that these are happening due to fewer clothes. What he said is that women should avoid vulgarity in dresses to avoid temptation and building a male mindset which in end may result in sex crimes.
