The latest celebrities to extend a helping hand in India's fight against Covid-19 are power couple Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli, who recently launched a fund to donate to organisations working towards providing aid to those in need.

The cricketer posted the news on his Instagram account.

"Since the Covid-19 outbreak, our country is going through trying times, our health systems are being challenged, we need to come together and help our India," he wrote, adding that he and his wife were stepping up to play their part.

"Anushka and I have started a campaign on Ketto, to raise funds for Covid-19 relief, and we would be grateful for your support. No amount is too small to save lives. We will do everything we can to make a difference, but we need your help to fight this," he added.

"I urge you all to join our movement. Let’s do our part to keep our country safe and strong. Thank you."

Sharing a similar post from her account, Sharma grieved over the overburdened healthcare system in India. Currently undergoing a crisis, she said it was heartbreaking "to see our people suffering."

Earlier this week, she thanked fans for the birthday wishes they sent her way, adding how she was grateful for the love but did not have the heart to celebrate amidst the crisis. It was then that she announced that the couple would be launching a fund soon, and asked people to come forth to help as much they could.

However, Virushka aren't the only duo to donate to India in times of crisis. Previously, Akshay Kumar announced that he was donating INR 10 million to the Gautam Gambhir Foundation, while his wife Twinkle Khanna managed to arrange 100 oxygen concentrators to be brought directly into the country through the United Kingdom.

Main Hoon Na star Sushmita Sen also arranged oxygen cylinders, asking for help transporting them to areas that needed urgent aid.

Biggest favour you can do to India is tell people to elect a PM that doesn't run on hate.

so now when IPL is suspended these greedy cricketers got time for raising funds.. if they would have opted to stay out first during IPL and started raising funds before then it would have been a good gesture.. this is trying to get cheap publicity ..

Release your own "funds" you earned from IPL. A fiasco that had its part in the covid spread too

We Pakistani should start donating and India govt must not make this political either. Hurtful to see this happening in our brotherly nation. I love you India and Kashmir.

The most of the Aid which was donated by many countries and still some countries are sending plane loads of medical Aid to India is not reaching many hospitals and also why the Indian government put stickers on every packages saying PM cares, what he cares ? Has he cared or instructed people not to attend mass Kumbh mela and he gathered many people for his election rally and that made the virus to spread among all the people and people paid the price for that for not hearing the covid protocol.

There was so much arrogance in Indian celebrities at the start of COVID-19. Shoaib Akhtar suggested a fund raising cricket match and Kapil Dev responded that 'India doesn't need the money.' Now they're running from pillar to post for every dollar.

@Ahmed No one needs money. There is shortage of oxygen not money. The shortage is due to huge demand for millions in short time.

@Asif I agree, probably there is no shortage of money, due to large number of cases medical facilities cannot take care of all and supplies get exhausted quickly, dead were buried in mass graves, this happened here in USA, same in Italy, UK etc, sending supplies is the answer.
