Rage, memes and tears on Twitter after PSL 6 postponed

Fans are devastated after the country's largest cricket tournament has been cancelled over Covid cases among players.
Updated 05 Mar, 2021

After a miserably shot spell, the PSL was postponed on Thursday, leaving cricket lovers in shock.

Much has been said about the whys and the hows of the PSL's cancellation, but officially, all we know is that seven players tested positive for the coronavirus and the PCB decided to postpone the tournament.

Fans are upset, to say the least, about the development and have taken to social media to vent their emotions.

People were devastated

Some blamed nazar, others a global pandemic.

Covid is ruining all our fun.

Shafqat Mahmood, they're coming for you.

Bad things come in twos.

Some people think Sarfraz Ahmed is a happy man.

But David Miller isn't.

There was also talk of some people violating rules that led to this situation being created.

Some have nominated a new PSL ambassador.

Till we meet again PSL, thanks for the memes and songs (and cricket of course)!

So pathetic yet again. This Govt hasn't left any sphere where their incompetence and corruption isn't visible. Najam Sethi successfully launched (in foreign land) and made PSL a success story and this lot couldn't even manage to hold this event in Pakistan

These incompetent organisers in the long run will ensure no international cricket is played in Pakistan again. Pathetic

Get all the players vaccinated before any event. Else test them and keep them in quarantine.

Unfortunately, PCB and its affiliates miserably failed to implement the bio-bubble protocols in letter and spirit resulting in postponement of the world famous sixth consecutive 2021 PSL T/20 Cricket Tournament in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

@Abs "These incompetent organisers in the long run will ensure no international cricket is played in Pakistan again. Pathetic" More like criminal negligence too. Praying for the quick recovery of the player who has serious complications. Otherwise things will take another dimension.

So irresponsible, look at IPL not a single match cancelled or postponed last year. It's all about discipline.

This is because of our culture of lack of respect for rules among our elites and our indiscipline. You can see all franchise owners and celebrities sitting with the players.....easy to blame PCB but individual franchises are responsible for flaunting the Bio bubble rules.

Don’t be harsh on anyone. This is a medical crisis which can happen even with all the precautions. A highly contagious virus. Cricket is just a game. Next year will be different. Look at India. Many of the English team members are sick with a gastrointestinal bug. Even in a bubble the unhygienic practices result in such illnesses. Indian team therefore is at an advantage having been exposed to these bugs.

@Shuaib Really brother blame government for something the entire world is facing. US has to postpone tins of sports events because common sense dictate to be safe then sorry. Let’s hope that the world will soo get rid of this virus and one thing that this government was able to bring PSL back to Pakistan.

Poor PSL could not take people’s attention away from political defeat of government at the hands of democracy. Also it exposed mismanagement of covid pandemic.

Why weren't all players given the covid 19 vaccine if not from the start, then at least in the middle? It seems the cricket board has been living in some alternative reality. Covid19 is the reason why PSL6 is so looked forward to but even this has been messed up, quite unnecessarily. Netflix is no substitute for PSL-6 where the challenges, the feats and the heart ache are real.

Just shows the mindset and attitude of Pakistanis towards a serious pandemic. Live s in Pakistan were never important and it shows. In my opinion this PCL should never have taken place considering Pakistanis attitude towards the pandemic, total lack of quality testing and no resources for treatment and Pakistanis total lack of value for human life.
