Good news Bridgerton fans, the hit Netflix show is returning for season 2

Lord Anthony Bridgerton "intends to dominate" the next (social) season.

Dearest Bridgerton fans,

We have some good news, indeed! Keep your scones and tea ready because Netflix has confirmed that the hit show set in 1800s London is returning for season 2.

We heard it directly from Lady Whistledown (voiced by the incomparable Julie Andrews), of course.

"The ton are abuzz with the latest gossip, and so it is my honour to impart to you: Bridgerton shall officially return for a second season," reads the latest gossip paper.

"This author has been reliably informed that Lord Anthony Bridgerton intends to dominate the social season," it adds. "I will have my pen ready to report on any and all of his romantic activities."

So it seems the Netflix adaptation will, for now, follow the chronology of Julia Quinn’s Regency-era eight-novel series.

Each novel is dedicated to the love story of a different Bridgerton sibling and as the fans are well aware, Daphne Bridgerton and her duke Simon Basset were the star attractions of season 1.

For season 2 of the shondaland production, The Viscount Who Loved Me will serve as the inspiration. And we're sure you're looking forward to more bygone-era decadence intermingled with all the drama of Gossip Girl.

Since we don't have more details on the awaited season and "patience, after all, is a virtue", we're leaving you with some of our favourite season 1 BTS shots shared by the cast.
