Khaled Anam says he wants PM Imran to know that Karachiites are 'alone' in this time of crisis

Anam said the current moment is a time of crisis and Karachiites find themselves alone in it.
Updated 29 Aug, 2020

Like most celebrities who've been sharing their anger and lament on the situation resulting from torrential rains in Karachi, singer Khaled Anam too is among those who have been directly impacted by the events.

In a video message posted to Twitter, the artist said he wanted to send a message to Prime Minister Imran Khan with respect to the situation and hoped that the clip would finally get to those who can do something about it.

In the video, Anam greeted the audience and said he had seen tickers on a news channel which quoted the prime minister as saying that his government would not abandon Karachi during a time of crisis.

Anam said that "with due respect", he wanted the prime minister to know that the current moment was in fact that time of crisis and that the people of Karachi were alone in it.

Anam ended the video with thanks to the audience, adding that that was all that he wanted to convey.

Anam's message came as record-breaking monsoon rains played havoc with Karachi’s infrastructure, flooding all key roads, submerging underpasses and streets and paralysing all segments of life. The crisis-like situation forced the Sindh government to invite the intervention of Prime Minister Imran Khan who ordered immediate rescue operations for thousands of affected people.

Due to the torrential downpour which has so far claimed 30 lives, the traffic system collapsed and the drainage infrastructure and power supply lines severed.

Major thoroughfares and roads in several parts of the city remain submerged and many areas continue to face power outages as of now.

If Lahore goes under water no one will blame PPP (After 18th amendment). You don't have the courage to call spade a spade. After 18th amendment it's PPP who makes money from Karachi and money laundering it to Dubai. After 12 years in power you can't can't clear the drans can't manage solid wastes and pretend to be liberals. Shame on you.

@AZAM AKBAR Seems like you don't know how government work after the 18th amendment just because a party won few seats in a particular area that doesn't give them any administrative power If that party is in power of that province than only it has the power and right now PPP is in power so it's pointless to blame PM Imran Khan about Karachi and Sindh matters PPP and Bilawal Zardari is to be blamed for this mess

Unfortunately we are so tuned to the movie culture; waiting for the good person to save the people from the bad people that we have lost confidence in ourselves. Stand behind people from your community, work together for a goal larger than your community road or nullah, let the middle class or the poor ones take lead, shun the privileged and the unformed class unless they bow down to your Will...

I wonder when will our “perhi likhi” awam understand that Federal has no power and authority left in a province after the 18th amendment. Dont they watch the news on tv everyday where the provincial government blocks every move by the Federal. Dont they know this comes entirely under Province and not the Federal ? Even then NDMA was forcibly sent to minimise the damage

If you keep ignoring people's problems at a certain area and allow others to rule on them who are only interested in looting the city then people start thinking about separation just like people of East Pakistan did in the past. Solve Karachi problems and allow Karachities to handle their matter instead of putting waderas on them or face new separation tahreek.
