Haroon reveals how he got Mahbooba to be shot at the Egyptian pyramids

"They told me I couldn’t afford to shoot by the pyramids and that I should just shoot the video in Pakistan on a fake Egypt set."

Be it the good old 'Dil Say Pakistan' getting our independence spirits high, or 'Mehndi' making us dance with nostalgia in our eyes, Haroon has won us over for most of our childhood.

Recently, the singer took to social media to reveal how one of his biggest hits 'Mahbooba' had difficulty being shot at one of the greatest wonders of the world - The Egyptian pyramids!

"I randomly found a production company online in Cairo, immediately booked my ticket and just got on a plane and flew out there for 3 days," revealed Haroon, as he spoke about when he first recorded the song.

"In the end, they told me I couldn’t afford to shoot by the pyramids and it would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars; and that I should just shoot the video in Pakistan on a fake Egypt set. I was really devastated."

But the universe has its ways. The 'Jiya Jaye' singer said the the company asked him to play the song the day he was leaving from Egypt and heading back home.

"When they heard it, they loved it. The lady producer said I love this song so much, I will make it happen no matter what. She called in a favour from her best friend who was married to the owner of the local Cairo production company that worked on the film Lawrence of Arabia."

Then what? Haroon returned to the set a couple of weeks later with the Pakistani film crew, and the rest is history we all have hummed numerous times to.

"There were so many things that could have gone wrong but the stars aligned and this music video went on to be one of my solo biggest hits," admitted the star.

We're grateful things worked out Haroon, we can't imagine the video any other way!

The horse in the video and the shots might be inspired from erturul series which has captured pakistani fans by storm.

Anyone who has been to Egypt knows they are always looking to extort money from foreigners. In the end they only charged Haroon what he could really afford.

deep down in your heart, you know that it was the dirtiest, filthiest place you could find to shoot your song, for marketing its good to create a hype about shooting at pyramids, because on the screen, it looks just fine to the audience. Thousands of travelers every year are disappointed upon visiting this place, and they realize that the ground realities are far from what they have been watching in videos. I say so because I have been living in Egypt for some months.

I am pleased for Haroon. I also think it's great there's a slight increase in exchange and travel to new destinations like Egypt, Turkey and maybe this can help open up minds among our people to see how other Muslims live and their culture. Look forward to the song doing well maybe it'll even get international fans!

I think its great he ventured out of the usual predictable comfort zone and went to a different destination like Egypt. A country full of history. How great that they liked his song. Now he might get international recognition or at least Egyptian. Great!
