Adnan Siddiqui and Humayun Saeed respond to Naumaan Ijaz's comments

Ijaz appeared on Vasay Chaudhry's Insta-live session where he remarked that the other two don't know how to act
Updated 09 May, 2020

Spontaneous celebrity Insta-live sessions are very capable of leading up to controversy, with celebrities making comments that can turn out to be offensive.

Quarantined in their homes, speaking into a cellphone camera rather than in a studio surrounded by people, the very famous tend to get candid. Actor Naumaan Ijaz recently did so and some of his comments raised eyebrows.

In a live session with screenwriter, actor and director Vasay Chaudhry, Naumaan grinned and declared that actor Humayun Saeed needed to learn how to act. “He is yet to learn it but I hope that he will learn.” Actor Adnan Siddiqui, according to him, was also in the same boat.

Video recordings from the live session promptly went viral with social media criticising Naumaan for making such high-handed comments about his co-actors. Others conjectured that he was probably joking because the session was just a candid talk between friends.

The next day, Naumaan came online in another live session – with designer Munib Nawaz – where he said that he had been joking and Instagrammers had randomly taken a single quote of his and put it out of context.

“These bloggers don’t have any business these days because actors generally pay them for their promotion. So they need to stir controversy just in order to run their ‘sasti dukaanein’ (small businesses),” he said.

But regardless of whether Naumaan was joking or not, his fellow actors have their reservations about his comments regarding them.

Actor Humayun Saeed observed, “If God has blessed you with izzat (respect), then you need to appreciate this and respect others. I have always been very respectful towards everyone and in return, I have received more respect and love than I could have ever hoped for."

"Whether Naumaan was laughing or was serious, he was right about one thing: I am still learning and I hope that I will continue learning. He, meanwhile, was very well-learned in the very first serial that he acted in and he still is the same in his latest projects. I don’t want to be like that. I don’t want to ever feel like I have learned everything, because if I do I will not be able to surprise people with new work.”

Adnan Siddiqui, similarly, commented, “We, as human beings, at times forget that we have an Almighty who is watching over us and blessing us. At times, we make fun of our fraternity members which I feel is uncalled for. I don’t think that I am a good actor but I am extremely thankful to Allah for blessing me with love and respect in abundance. And who are we to make fun of someone who has been blessed by Allah?”

“We don’t make fun of family members in public, we always do it in private. Similarly, when we as a fraternity criticise someone’s work we do it in private and not in public. People sometimes try to get away from what they have said by claiming that it was a joke but one can see through what the person really meant under the garb of a joke.”

Both Humayun Saeed and Adnan Siddiqui starred this year in a drama that broke records, Meray Paas Tum Ho, and won rave reviews for their performances. The comment – or even the joke - that they need to learn how to act was bound to rile their fans as well as the actors themselves.

Comments of Numan Ijaz appear to have offended them but what he said is true. Both of actors are not as good as they should have to be despite getting immense love from public on the drama MPTH. What needs to be realised is that it was a prejudice against women in our patriarchal society that has made the drama popular where woman is objectified rather than acting of actors that would be appreciated. I never see any of acting skills being shown by them that could be taken as a master storke. Both actors are lucky but Numan Ijaz is an actor having ability to switch its character in more holistic way.

The life is learning from cradle to grave. When learning stops you die. HS and AS both need to ask NI how and from whom can the learn how to act. No one should be offended. Sometimes old friends just pull each other’s legs

Fully agree that both have their have their own limitations and limited range. Even in MPTH.. humayun's performance was slightly above average. (Improvement in facial and body expressions needed). Similarly adnan underperformed in many scenes, ( specially during the demise of his character shahwar . He could not fully sinc with the feel of his character in latter part of drama. May be he got easy after the success. Noman on the other is a separate breed and much powerful and versatile artist. His expressions are far stronger than the two. Wonder what will happen if the trio stop quelling and join hands and work on a project. If they do so, may be PTV may stop looking outwards.

Naumaan was right, both of these guys really need to learn how to act and Humayun should stop play and act like someone in his tweens.

I had huge respect for Adnan siddiqui but the recent events involving Amir liaquat followed by his behavior in live show towards Sarfaraz was mind boggling, how could you be so insensitive towards Other's feelings while you are so much concerned when somebody rubs you the wrong way???you immediately come online to condemn what about your apology in Sarfaraz's case???

Humayoun Saeed knows he can't act. Luck is with him now a days, that has made him arrogant and he is living in clouds, many a times condescending towards others.

I have watched Naumaan Ijaz in 'Mein Sitara" and "Dar Si Jaati Hai Sila". I have also watched Humayun Saeed and Adnan Siddiqui in "Meray Paas Tum Ho" and liked Nauman Ijaz's performance lot better. I think he is very good actor and better than the other two.

Well said, the male and female, senior and even junior artists, very easily say, about highly succussful artists, who have gotten great succuss,in Pakistan and internationally, that they should not act ,their age is over ,and they in case of women, rate them on scale, this was done by iffet Omer and Sonya Hassan, who are educated to be promoting respect for female actresses! Jealousy of big egos ,which is bigger then their talents ,even pak enteriment industry! This needs to change !

Both Humayun and Adnan are great actors. I love both. Nauman Ijaz needs to grow up. I can't believe such a senior actor like him used such a pathetic way to seek attention. He cannot blame the media and bloggers when he himself wanted the attention by commenting nonsense about Humayun and Adnan. Now when it backfired he is bashing the media and people. Humayun and Adnan responded in such a humble way which shows despite being much younger to Nauman, they are far more sensible than him.

They're all great actors. I'm sure Nauman Ejaz meant it as a joke, hoping that his friends would see the humour, maybe they didn't. But its only a matter of time before they clear the air. Or maybe they're all in it and setting the public up!

Both Humayun Saeed and Adnan Siddiqui are great stars-no comparable to them in industry. Unfortunately we are making comparisons which is unfortunate. They are all great actors. Nuamaan is also good, rather very good.

Love Noman Ejaz as an actor. He is the top one then Faysal Qureishi and Fahad Mustafa... These actors are versatile...no doubt. But Humayun Saeed is our chocolate hero. He and Adnan Siddiqui both responded well to the boisterous, pompous comment of Noman Ejaz. As Adnan Siddiqui said please refrain from such negative critisism in public, about fellow actors. It is rude. Noman Ejaz plz show some humility. Humayun Saeed is as not a great actor as you but surely way humble and thus stands bigger than you. Peace!
