Javed Jaffrey slams troll for calling him a traitor over anti-CAA remarks

"Last time I read the constitution, it spoke of democracy, equality and right to dissent," said the actor.
Updated 30 Jan, 2020

Javed Jaffery is not fazed by trolls and we have proof.

The actor recently tweeted an article which discussed how 600 lawmakers in the 751-member EU Parliament moved six resolutions against the CAA, claiming it marked a dangerous shift in India's citizenship regime.

Jaffery's post was met with both support and criticism, with one telling him to move to Europe. The comedian had an apt response ready and shots were fired.

Jaffrey said, "Last time I read the constitution, it spoke of democracy, equality and right to dissent. Wouldn’t know if you have made any changes privately though... kindly update."

Jaffrey is one of the growing celebrities that are vocal against the Citizen Amendment Act. Fellow stars like Hrithik Roshan, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha and Parineeti Chopra have previously called out the CAA while many like Sonam Kapoor and Mahesh Bhatt stood in solidarity with the students of Jamia Millia Islamia University when their protest was violently stopped.

Many also supported students of Jawaharlal Nehru University when they were attacked by masked vandals, with Deepika Padukone showing up to their protest as an act of solidarity.

I think India roll back to the same era when in USA black and White race issue was on its peak. In such ugliest nature of atmosphere Democracy or human right are worthless. I hope Indian people came to their senses and crush any move to divide their country on such controversial lines.

JNU masked protest attack was about increased hostel fees not CAA. While celebs want muslims to be included in CAA, not just hindus and sikhs foriegn refugees, because they feel muslims too face oppression in these 3 countries.

Trolls should be ignored. Everyone has right to dissent. Also would have appreciated if Mr Jaffery had also acknowledged that EU or any other nation has no business discussing India's internal affairs. They should first try to solve their own problems and close all inhuman detention centers in EU.

This is in continuation of my earlier comment. Anurag Kashyap was among the first batch of celebrities to join the anti-CAA protest at Gateway of India in Mumbai. Sushant even composed and recited a very passionate poem on Hindu-Muslim brotherhood . The sad part , however, is that stars like Amitabh Bachan, Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and others have so far remained silent on the issue. Perhaps for the same reason that they would be termed as traitors. They should remember what was said by a survivor of Aucshwitz Camp recently in Poland on the occasion of the 75th year of the Nazi massacre of Jews. ( Let there be an 11th Commandment, That thou shall not remain INDIFFERENT. For remaining indifferent means you are becoming a party to injustice.

Very sorry for patriots like Javed Jaffrey and others. My friend even if you were born in India you will have to keep proving your patriotism because you were born a musim. That is why the 2 nation theory came into place. My ancestors realized that and moved to Pakistan.

No one is throwing out our muslim brothers and sisters. Yes illegals will be identified and sent back or retained. Worry of these people shows something is wrong with their nationality.

From Canada: I do not see anything to complain against CAA. The point is you should be in the country legally. Those who oppose this legitimate law, is doing so with ulterior motives. Even here , if you are illegal the system will show you the door. Nothing wrong. Do not put your burden on another country, carry it yourself.

In any functioning democracy, a citizen needs to understand the issues well before shooting of protests to foreign nations or even at home! Do all the people protesting against CAA in India know what they fear--in the future? There protestors who can't even decode what FAA stands for! _-And, no people from majority communities who do not need refuge in India need not apply! You got Pakistan, Afghanistan and B/Desh. Why wish a return to India?
