It's been two months since Shaniera Akram voiced her concern about the medical waste landing on Seaview but that was just the beginning.

"Our beach is a bio-hazard zone and needs to be shut down immediately. I am so sorry to the people including myself who use and love our beach but this is beyond safe," Shaniera had previously said.

Akram has been pretty vocal about pollution and climate change and just took to Twitter again to let people know where all the trash is ending up.

While commending those cleaning up the beach, she pointed out that there is a long way to go as picking up trash from the coast is only a short term move.

"All day every day these workers are in the hot sun cleaning up the filth that is getting washed on our shores," says Shaniera. "Our ocean is polluted and no matter how hard we work at cleaning the beach rubbish still washes in everyday. We need to fix the source instead of bandaging the problem!"

Shaniera has spoken up about reducing plastic before, saying, "a plastic bag takes between 1-10,000 years or more to decompose."

This lady cares about her adopted home more than the people who have lived there for generations. My salute to Shaniera Akram.

No city administration can clean a city unless the citizens do their part

The lady has correctly defined the problem when she points out " ... the rubbish STILL WASHES IN everyday. " So the problem needs to addressed from the sea by the many authorities set up by our security apparatus to curb smuggling, safeguard our coast line from infiltration etc.etc........this would a major serve they would be doing for the welfare of the people.

@Ehsan Wrong! The city administration can do its part by implementing, and ENFORCING anti-litter regulations, thus forcing the citizens to do their bit. This needs to be backed up by adequate waste management services. Picking up rubbish after it has been dumped is a never-ending task - stopping it from being dumped in the first place is a much more effective use of resources.
