Anoushey Ashraf urges people to treat sacrificial animals with love

"Don't take photos and videos of the sacrifice. The animals are not for show, this occasion isn’t a show," she wrote.

Actor, RJ and animal lover, Anoushey Ashraf has shared a very important message about treating animals with kindness this Eid-Ul-Azha.

The WWF ambassador took to her Instagram and addressed an issue that many people don't pay much heed to: taking care of your animals and respecting the sacrifice.

Of course, the flex of buying expensive animals for sacrifice and showing them off is nothing new within our society. But the sharing of gruesome images/videos of your sacrificial animals on social media has also become a bizarre trend; people constantly share insensitive and disturbing content during Bakra Eid.

The actor shared, "Closing in on that time of the year where I always reach out to those on my Instagram urging them to care, respect and love their animal of sacrifice to the absolute fullest. A few things; Please make sure slaughter takes places in the most humane way possible.

Closing in on that time of the year where I always reach out to those on my Instagram urging them to care, respect and love their animal of sacrifice to the absolute fullest. A few things; Please make sure slaughter takes places in the most humane way possible. Don’t make children run the blade on the animal please. The qasai should be a thorough professional. The knives should be so sharp that the animal shouldn’t feel any pain. Don’t sacrifice one animal in front of the other. It induces severe anxiety in them. DO NOT make videos and photos of the process. They’re NOT for show, this occasion isn’t a show. Try and feel the pain of an innocent life lost. Stop another and teach them the right of animals too if you see their animals in bad shape, under fed, hot, tied to short ropes so they can’t sit/move etc. Cry when they go, pray for their sacrifice and feel the pain of loss. Do no exhibit, compare and spend extravagant amounts of money to please Allah. He knows your neeyat better than anyone. Be gentle with the animals, be kind. Clean up thoroughly after it’s done. Stop storing meat for yourselves, give and distribute the best of it first. Reflect on the meaning of sacrifice. Be humble about it. May Allah accept our sacrifices this year. The greatest nations are those that are kind to their animals. They are our food, they fill our hungry bellies. They’re a big blessing. We have to respect them. We have to be thankful to them. ❤️

Anoushay suggested we try and be a bit more empathetic.

We couldn't agree more. Everyone, take notes!

She said a good example, but in my sincere opinion, sacrificing an animal ONCE in a lifetime fulfills your obligation and love for the Abrahamic teachings. And that meat, skin and everything should be GIVEN away to the deserving not sub-divided into three sections. That is the real spirit of the occasion. After the FIRST sacrifice, the amount after that should be given to the needy, which would help them much more, because your goat-meat would quench their hunger for one day, your money can go a long way for different reasons.

Won't it make more sense to treat animals with love and not slaughter them afterwards?

A welcome and timely msg: this season brings a lot of pain and sufferings to the animals in the name of sacrifice. I wish she had a take with a bigger animal not a cozy little cute goat. Still the compassionate for the welfare of animals is admirable
