While speaking to BBC Asian Network, actress Zara Noor Abbas opened up about her struggles with online body-shamers.

The Chhalawa star revealed, “I was body-shamed for a long time on social media. I had to block it out because if I kept listening to them, I was going to lose focus.”

The 28-year-old confided that it is painful to feel the need to lose weight or undergo surgeries and procedures because others think you are "big and broad".

She shared that the trolls and their unsolicited comments about weight did dwindle her confidence and it "always hurt" but she never stopped being herself.

“There came a time when I had to tell myself to stop and to embrace myself and my flaws, no matter what size I am,” she said.

Zara also touched upon the incident when she faced derogatory remarks from models when she walked ramp and others commented saying she's trying to be Mahira Khan.

"Mahira is an intelligent woman so it was a great comparison," she observed nonchalantly.

All the criticism she received online had taken a toll on her mental well-being, forcing her into guilt every time she ate so she transformed self-pity into self-love. And, according to Zara, that is how you should keep negativity at bay: “If you are going out and gymming, that’s fine. But if you are going to let them affect you and stop wearing what you wear, that’s when it's negative and concerning."

The actor also took to Instagram recently to share a collage of her original photo against a photo-shopped one with a heartfelt caption which read, "I am a curvy woman. And I love myself. Take me as who I am or don't bother at all. I will never change myself for what you think I should be."

Celebrities like her husband Asad Siddiqui, Hania Aamir, Mehwish Hayat and Azfar Rehman cheered her on in the comment section for owning her body.

At the moment, Zara is busy promoting her upcoming film Parey Hut Love which is all set to release on Eid ul Azha.
