The MeToo movement in India has just taken a major setback.

According to Times of India, Tanushree's sexual harassment case against Nana Patekar has come to a close.

The publication reported that the Mumbai Police has filed a closure report in court stating that Dutta's allegation case lacks of evidence against Patekar.

Reportedly, Dutta's lawyer, Nitin Satpute also said, "We haven’t yet received any official communication from the police yet. However, we will challenge the closure report."

In 2008, Dutta had said an unnamed actor misbehaved with her during a shoot, last year she revealed that it was her Horn Ok Pleassss co-star Nana Patekar.

"He was grabbing me by the arms, pushing me around then he would ask the choreographers to move and teach me how to dance, and the next thing I know he wanted to do was an intimate sequence with me. It was ridiculous,” she said during an interview.

The alleged incident took place on the shoot of a special number for the film due to which she opted out of the appearance and was replaced by Rakhi Sawant.

The month following the allegation, Dutta went to the Mumbai police station and filed a written complaint against him.

Dutta said she had also received "violent threats" from the fringe, far-right nationalist group Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and has been hounded by a "smear campaign" on social media since reiterating her claims against the pair.

Good. Now the case of Zafar and Shafi should also close amicably.

There were 150 dancers and artists on stage when she claims the alleged incident happened ten years back. Not one witness or evidence she put forth supporting her version. But hundreds eye witness on set said nothing in their presence happened supporting Nana’s version. Took ten years to complain, no proof produced by her. The police did right thing.

Nana's mom died a few months earlier and she probably knew about this #meetoo incident. It's sad that inspite of the videos that came out, it could not be proved. Tanushree should feel better that Nana patekar will be living the rest of his life feeling, how his actions affected his mom during her last days

"The MeToo movement in India has just taken a major setback. " Disagree. The police investigated and questioned dozens of witnesses. If there is no evidence found, you cannot destroy a man's career. Me Too did not mean that any man who is accused by any woman should have his career destroyed. Every accused is allowed due process and that includes Nana.
