Ali Rehman Khan urges dog owners to treat their pet like family

"Breaks my heart to see all those dogs neglected," wrote the star in a moving Instagram post
13 Jun, 2019

Actor Ali Rehman Khan's got a soft spot for dogs.

In a moving Instagram post Khan shared photos playing with golden retrievers he saw on the street and wrote, "Those moments when nothing else makes you happier. Chilled with these cuties when I saw them on the side walk strutting around."

And it got him thinking about pet dogs which are locked up outside houses by owners and it broke it his heart.

"Which makes me think about how dogs are kept in Pakistan. I really wish more people had dogs inside their houses as members of their families in Pakistan rather than keeping them outside in cages and in gardens."

He added, "Breaks my heart to see all those dogs neglected. I feel sorry for people who don’t give themselves the opportunity to experience the love of a dog every second they’re around one. Dogs are a gift, literally the best friends you will ever have, ever! Embrace their love!"

First they need to treat humans like human being before they can treat animals like part of the family. Good luck.

@Sara thats a well documented excuse to do nothing. Any nation's character can be judged with a simple technique..."see how they treat their pets and strays." There has been a direct correlation that those who have mercy on animals have definite mercy on their fellow men.

First and foremost is to ask people to treat human as human. What about the rights of poor people in our society. Treat poor and destitute as member of your family.....

One neither chain family-members like dogs. We need to keep animals in their natural habitats. I being animal-lover, do not see dog, happy being chained.

I have seen people kissing and cuddling their beloved dogs..some even eating the same slice of cake! You really don't know what the dog was sniffing or licking a moment before it came running to you!

Totally agree, however to be honest, do Pakistani's really know how to treat a human. Deception, stealing, killings, snatching someone's right is a normal practice. I have seen people not giving a second thought when committing something unlawful. Then expecting something far superior than their normal day to day operations is a huge ask.

A good article! As a nation, as a society, as a Muslim country if we all respected everyone's right including animals, their would be no inequalities! I really wish that next generation of Pakistan is a educated about loving humans, animals. ALSO the children should be made aware of issues like sex expioltaions, molestation etc before it's too late. Sadly we come across these sad incidents on weekly basic.

We should treat all our living things with dignity and kindness. Sadly we don't even treat our humans right. Look at the women's shelters, the streets with the homeless, and the asylums and hopistals. Our humanity has died?

Pets should stay as pets. Raising their status to family members is degradation of humanity.

Dogs shouldn’t be inside, they are happy out in the open. However should be treated nicely.

@Sara - you had to come up with this snitty remark? Where did Mr. Khan suggested to prefer dogs over people. All he was saying is to be kind to animals. Just to be a grouchy old man and in response to your remark; I say, - "I have gotten more love from my dog than some human being I crossed path".

@Asim why's hound dogs be kept outside? What you don't think they get cold or need companionship? In the West dogs are kept indoors because they are part of the family. Dogs eat out of their own bowl, they slouchwith their owners on the couch, sleep sometimes ate the foot of the owners bed too. You don't have pets do you? I am guessing you are the kind who think dogs are dirty. They are not. You wash them with soap and water. Take them for walks in the fresh air. So much ignorance about dogs in Pakistan. Very sad. No wonder you see stray dogs and they are barely standing.

I have to agree! I love my little doggie. We should embrace every moment we can with our dogs / pets and treat them like apart of the family because at the end of the day they are part of the family!!

Ali what you said is so true, about people who own dogs, and don't treat them like a part of the family, such as; letting the pet live indoor, loving on them, playing with them, etc. They are missing out on a very special love! AND you are also correct in your frustration why commenters can't stick to the topic? Maybe the discussion could enlighten instead of stagnate an idea of change if individuals stayed on point!!!

without animals we are nothing. (empty). I lost my best friend this past winter, my heart is still broken to pieces. dogs are truly man's best friend. unconditional love at its finest. we need more dogs and less people. for sure less democrats.... all democrats need to move to Mexico so you can have it your way. stop triing to change America. just leave.
