700,000 angry Game of Thrones fans demand Season 8 remake in viral petition

The final season of Game of Thrones will be aired this weekend but don't expect many fans to have closure.

Over 700,000 (and counting) Game of Thrones fans have signed a Change.org petition that demands for Season 8 to be remade "with competent writers."

The petition, which was started by a Dylan D, says: "David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on. This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!"

Many of the show's episodes have sparked online backlash, from the accidental cameo of a Starbucks cup in episode 3 to more serious fare like criticism of the use of rape as a plot device to strengthen Sansa Stark's character.

Petitioners have cited numerous other reasons for signing: rushed, predictable writing, plot holes and "blatant lack of care for any kind of character integrity or emotional journey".

It's unlikely that the petition will be heeded by HBO and a remake is a budget and logistical impossibility. But hey, at least fans know that hundreds of thousands of others share their pain.

Yes, episodes 3 and 4 were poor. 5 was better. Poor imagination and consistency. Episide 4 end was out of character with a strong wannabe queen, a close staff member is beheaded while she stands by with no planning or response.

GOT S8 has been a disappointment! episode 5, was a complete waste of time, This is not what the last decade has built it up to be. the grand finale should be anything BUT!!

The whole point of the show is to showcase that not all is roses. Because if anything deserved a petition, it was Ned Stark's death. And dont hat me for saying this, but unfortunate events sometimes tend to strengthen a person, and that is a good thing. (the strengthening that is, not the event itself)

If you don’t like your emotions to get played, this show is not for you. If you are more into good vs. evil type of fantasy story, this show is not for you. If this show made you upset , it only means that George rr. Martin and rest of HBO writers got you but you never got the brilliance of G rr Martin. To everyone that’s is complaining... just admit it... you GOT GOT!!!

Why did they not consult GRRM for the ending.. like why the heck would they do this. They have an amazing team of actors, cinematography on point, the creative team composing each scene's visuals is remarkable, the lighting, the music, everything is good. But what is this crappy writing? what is with the subversion? I thought finally something can beat the LOTR trilogy visualized, I spoke too soon cuz LOTR had real writing(Tolkien), not this whatever you wanna call this. This turned out worse than Harry Potter later movies. Argh!

The season 8 is not up to the expectations as it was long awaited. Many times it's felt that script was very poor and writer is getting his grip loosen up by miles. In the 5th episode, things got messed as the mother dragon went out to destroy the whole kings landing without any discrimination. Jon snow's character is also poor in the season.

It's not that it is not worth watching but the sheer flatness with which it is carried is absolutely horrid. No good dialogues, no thrilling scenes, no heartbreak, no emotion (except for maybe Tyrion scenes). It just like watching a popular sitcom, flat.

@Anjum agree, yet in the previous episode she watches her close advisor beheaded with no response. Diving on the dragon from the sky with lots of scorpions shooting at her was also a bit weak too.

Really needs to be start over again with better script. This time it really needs to work on strong characters shown before like bran and jon snow. They were shown almost useless in episode 3 and 4 with great war and war after that.

season 8 totally disrespects the characters and the story line. plots not well addressed. things happened too fast with not enough explanation . cheap quick way to end a fantastic show. season 8 not in the same caliber as the rest of the show.
