Pakistanis can't stop praising New Zealand's humane Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern

Following the Christchurch attack, people are praising the leader for her empathy and how they treat minorities
Updated 21 Mar, 2019

While no head of state should have to demonstrate their mettle in such circumstances, Jacinda Ardern has proven to be a true leader following the heinous Christchurch mosque attacks.

A “right-wing extremist” armed with semi-automatic weapons rampaged through two mosques in the quiet New Zealand city of Christchurch during afternoon prayers on Friday, killing 49 worshippers and wounding dozens more.

The New Zealand Prime Minister decisively described the act as a terrorist one (none of those "lone wolf" excuses) and has responded with empathy to the Muslim minority in her country; a few days after the attack, she addressed parliament with 'Al-Salaam Alaikum' to show solidarity.

Ardern is not all talk because she's also swiftly making legislative changes such as the ban of semiautomatic guns in the country and is committed to "weeding out" terrorism both in New Zealand and globally.

No wonder everyone is enamoured by how she has responded to such a tragedy; Pakistanis too are all praise for the PM on Twitter.

PM Imran Khan also called Ardern to appreciate the quick response by the local authorities in the wake of the attack and respect she has shown to Muslims in New Zealand:

Dr. Arif Alvi thanked her in a tweet from the official President of Pakistan account for "rejecting hate and Islamophobia":

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Faisal also said that she has won many admirers in Pakistan:

We guess it's true:

Love the Honorable Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern. A true leader of Humanity, she was in LGBT pride parade the first PM of a nation to do that. You don't have to be leader of a big nation to prove that you have a big heart. Thank you ma'am for your words, action and kindness of compassion it helped us all heal.

We are in love with the PM and the people of NZ. She won the hearts of billions of peace loving people from around the world. I am short of words to describe what a wonderful lady she is. I have never been to NZ but heard about how clean and beautiful that country is. Never knew how good the NZ people were, and they are blessed to have such a lady as their PM.

Great to see how NZ is working round the clock to ensure equal rights to minorities even immigrants. Hope one day all religious countries become secular & inclusive in accepting other minorities with open arms & heart.

Respected Ms. Jacinda Ardern, I just have no words to describe your decency and humane attitude that you have shown towards the victims of the mosques in New Zealand. No matter how loud we all applaud and proclaim your exalted and hands-on attitude in these hours of despair, all that sounds like a feeble whisper in comparison to your noble personality. All the leaders of the world should and must take a lesson from your sincere, honest and heart-felt approach manifested in handling these difficult hours faced by the victims of that atrocious activity and being with them hand-in-hand. Long you live, Madam.

You are NOT going to learn anything from her. Your treatment of minorities (as exemplified by blasphemy law) will continue as it is. When others kill Muslims, they are extemists/terorists, and when Muslims kill other, they will be called freedom-fighters. You are going to forget the magnanimity really soon. You will discover Islamophobia in others and deny the xenophobia in you.

But even with what and where we stand moraly as a nation, believe me having a PM like Imran Khan is not less than a miracle.

People of New Zealand are generally sensible, peaceful & respectful. They have elected a great leader of their choice. She has perfectly demonstrated the quality of her country & citizens. Other leaders of the World are too also been elected / mandated by the people of respective country which is also the reflection of the quality of citizens of the respective country.

Pakistan's arguably angel of mercy, Abdul Sattar Edhi had once said “The greatest thing Islam teaches is humanity.” I whole heartedly agree with this, however, I had not seen manifestation of such compassion, kindness, and wholesome goodness until now. Of course what happened in New Zealand is absolutely tragic, but what followed was manifestation of humanity at its BEST. I am not eloquent with words to capture in my writings what I have seen by a nation that truly felt the pain and are resolute in making amends to the extent possible. I want to thank the New Zealand prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, and the whole nation. They have shown humanity at its best at a national level. I wish and pray that other nations also emulate New Zealand in showing compassion and kindness to all minorities in their respective countries. Again, THANK YOU New Zealand. Hat’s off to you, New Zealanders! Kamal Uddin
