Humaima Malick recounts harassment at Lahore's Nishat Hotel

She shared that the hotel ignored her complaints about being harassed and failed to make her feel safe
09 Aug, 2018

Actor Humaima Malick took to Instagram yesterday to criticise unethical hotel practices that allow for celebrities to be harassed during their stay.

The Arth 2 star shared her recent experience at Lahore's Nishat Hotel, where Malick alleges that the management was "deliberately involved in breaching [her] privacy and trust by sharing [her] personal information" like her room number with other guests at the hotel. She adds that the management ignored her complaints about being harassed and failed to make her feel secure at their establishment

The actor says that she has lost count of the number of business cards slipped under her door and shared messages she received from an unknown man who admits to dropping his card. His barrage of messages took an even more uncomfortable turn when he says he heard her crying in her room.

"Be aware if you lose a loved one and someone dies in your family while staying at Nishat - you cannot cry in your room otherwise people might drop business cards," she writes in a second post on Instagram.

Humaima also alleges that the Nishat Hotel put up her photographs on their social media without her consent "for free publicity".

Humaima, is Nishat the only hotel in Lahore? Stay elsewhere where you are respected. And since you have proof of breach of privacy, a good lawyer can take care of that.

Its so hard to work around in This world doesn't matter where, if you are a women specially beautiful, and specially specially famous. These creeps always will find you. I have a wife and three daughters, people approach them from every where doesn't matter what age, people with beard, people over 60, doesn't matter, there are a lot of them.

This is more like the case of a celebrity's personal space being violated (which must be condemned) but different forums are portraying it in relation to MeToo movement which is totally irrelevant. Imran Abbas once shared a screenshot showing around 3 thousand messages from unknown numbers, yet his caption said that he was unable to respond to them all.

Pakistan is not a state yet where a girl can comfortably wear a skirt to school rather dress western in public. Dress modestly and switch hotels. Also good job bringing this to public knowledge. Women have been silent for too long.

Take strict action in court against such people and always make aware yourself against such circumstances before going to such places..

Sameer (Aug 09, 2018 09:11pm), "Pakistan is not a state yet where a girl can comfortably wear a skirt to school rather dress western in public." Why is the wearing of skirts and/or Western clothes to school a sign of progress? Sameer (Aug 09, 2018 09:11pm), "Dress modestly and switch hotels." The command to lower's one gaze applies irrespective of how a person is dressed. Immodesty is wrong. Harassment, staring, etc. is wrong.
