It's a clash of the titans as Akshay Kumar gears up for his latest project.

The Padman actor revealed the first look of Kesari, in which he's seen looking fierce in a uniform and turban. And we also know that the actor opposite Akshay in the film is Parineeti Chopra!

Karan Johar took to Twitter to share the news:

Kesari is based on the Battle of Saragarhi (1897), which took place between the Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army and Pashtun Orakzai tribesmen in the North-West Frontier Province (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan).

It was a battle in which 21 Sikh soldiers stood against 10,000 men.

Interestingly, Ajay Devgn is also making a film on the same battle called Sons of Sardar: Battle of Saragarhi. However, he postponed his project to avoid a clash with KJo's film. Reportedly, due to the large scale of his film, it'll take around three to four years to complete.

Regardless of the true event, the inclusion of songs and dances into historical movies kill the real theme.

Before this movie is banned in some country. Let me just say this is our collective history, irrespective of which side of the border we live in.

@RIAZ ULLAH BAIG - These are high budget movies and some imaginations needs to be put-in to make it interesting for the masses and also to ensure commercial viability.

Who does one root for while watching the movie? The ancestors of Indians who were representing the English? Or the native tribesmen who were defending their land?
