Is Padmavati clashing with Akshay Kumar's Padman?
Padmavati may finally get a release date, but it's possibly clashing with two heavyweights; Akshay Kumar's Padman or Anushka Sharma's Pari.
According to latest reports, now that India's CBFC has given the Deepika Padukone starrer a green signal, Padmavati may just hit screens on January 25 or February 9. The only problem with these dates is that Padman is set to release on the former and Pari on the latter.
However, Padman producers plan to release their film as planned irrespective of Padmavati's date.
"I am clueless what is happening... with the clash. I have no idea about it. Even we have heard about it. All we know is that Padman is releasing on January 25. Akshay announced it officially."
One Padman producer told PTI."Padmavati is a very important film. It's a beautiful film and it should release soon. I am also looking forward to see it. It depends on Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions to decide on the date."
Reports also state that Padmavati may see a clash with Anushka Sharma's home production Pari if makers of the period drama decide to push their release ahead. But unlike Padman, producers of Pari are waiting on a confirmation lest there is a clash.
"We are coming on February 9, we are waiting for an official announcement on Padmavati release date, so till then we cannot comment," said Prerna, a member of the film's co-production team KriArj Entertainment.
