Google honours Madam Noor Jehan's 91st birthday with a doodle

Madam Noor Jehan would've turned 91 today.

In honour of the legendary singer Google dedicated a doodle in her honour. The doodle features Noor Jehan's likeness, heavily resembling her Dildar Sadqay Lakh Waar Sadqay performance on PTV.

And everyone's talking about it.

Madam Noor Jehan is an iconic figure in Pakistani history. Born as Allah Wasai on September 21, 1926 in Kasur, Noor Jehan started her musical career from Calcutta at the age of nine as a talented child star.

She was renowned as one of the greatest and most influential singers of her time in South Asia and was given the honorific title of Malika-e-Tarannum.

She recorded about 10,000 songs in various languages of India and Pakistan including Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi and Sindhi. Noor Jehan died on December 23, 2000 in Karachi.

The Citizens Archive of Pakistan curated a special Google Cultural Exhibition on the 91st anniversary of the legendary singer Noor Jehan. The exhibit was curated using unique images acquired from her family’s private collection and interviews with people whose lives she touched.

Why do you hesitate to use the word " sari " ? You simply say Madam was wearing a purple attire and please remember she is also a treasure of India. She settled in Pakistan but never had a bad word for India.

@vasudevan She was a positive person. As for draging India into everything, she went to the border in the 1965 war and cheered for the Pakistani jawans in uniform defending their country. As for sari, it is a Pakistani dress but Shalwar Kameez is more popular and much more easy to wear

she was legend singer of the country, and legend never die and they are always remember on important days also as like madam is remembered particularly her song which she had sung during the indo-pak war, the nation can not forget it.

@Khwarizmi I am a Pakistani but because she started her career before partition and most of her movies were released in Bombay and Calcutta uptill late 1940s, Indians do have a right to call her a part of their cinematic heritage.
