Hamza Ali Abbasi praises Hafiz Saeed and people are very angry

The actor tweeted in favour of the Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) chief coming in third place in the NA-120 by-elections. Yikes
18 Sep, 2017

Hamza Ali Abbasi needs no introduction.

His comments on Pakistan's current political landscape have caused a public backlash several times. Not surprisingly though, he has yet again managed to anger people over his tweets.

This time Abbasi's on the radar for commending Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed on his latest feat: Saeed's newly formed political party Milli Muslim League (MML) came in third place in the current NA-120 by-elections.

The JuD leader, who is currently under house arrest, is a controversial figure locally and internationally. Saeed had been accused by the United States and India of masterminding the 2008 attacks on the Indian financial capital Mumbai that killed 166 people. He, however, has repeatedly denied involvement in the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

In 2012, the United States announced a bounty of $10 million on Hafiz Saeed for his alleged role in the attack in which six American citizens were also killed.

Justifying his earlier tweet, Hamza tried to explain his stance:

And claimed that the JuD leader is only Anti-Indian government.

Commentators were understandably outraged and puzzled by Hamza's statements:

Earlier, Hamza came under fire after making "derogatory remarks about Pakistani passport" on his Bol TV show 'HQ Debate.' Pemra issued a notice to the private television channel stating that "airing of such derogatory remarks can spread hatred and provoke anti-Pakistani sentiments".

His words of appreciation for a controversial personality are bound to backfire. But let there be no doubt it that we are following a double standard. There is no clarity on the issue otherwise how could hafiz backed party could be allowed to take party in the NA-120 by-elections. So there is more than the eye can see.

Hamza Ali has come out in support of a Terrorist and some are defending it..........this attitude of the population goes long way in explaining why we are in constant state of disarray........somewhere along the way it seems we have lost our Moral Compass and are unable to distinguish between a Terrorists and political activist. Hafiz Saeed is a murderer and the only place he belongs is in jail and not in people's heart.

To Pemra, Kindly, impose a ban on cults like Hamza A Abbasi. As you know they have n number of following. Such tweets could brain wash the society. Even I am shocked how this MMP came into picture and ECP issued them licence of Politics. Pakistan should be free from religious and liberal cults.

Hamza Ali Abbasi is a public figure. Even knowing consequences of his tweet he done it. He knew that this will not harm Pakistan international level but also create controversies in internal politics of country. I think he is doing for cheap publicity stunt. He should refrain from posting such tweets in future and do his work what he should do.

politics apart when people start hating people based on fake news and false propaganda then it is a real problem--pakistan forces know what hafiz saeed is doing for the betterment of pakistani masses without salary and his role in harmonising shia and sunni therefore they dont care about indian or us propaganda which is false and politically motivated and that is why his party got third highest votes not in fluke but because people/voters see his philanthropic work and his huge help in eathquake and floods--we as pakistani should learn to believe our forces more than others propaganda just as indians and americans believe in their media, forces and govts even when they know they are lying while pakistani forces are not lying

He is entitled to his opinion and it's a lot better to be outspoken than a closet follower . Truth is radicalism and intolerance has spread all across society from the rich to poor to the educated or uneducated . As a society we have been islamised to varying degrees and it's easy to rally behind Islam as it's explained that is the reason for our creation and existence . The main problem with being a religious state is that we consider other states who don't share our religious view as an enemy and they won't sit idle watching the hate . The cycle of hate proliferates and when it cycles a few times we are likely to have no state or religion left . There are examples of such events in Central Asia as well as China where the once powerful Muslim Turkic identity was completely neutralized . Several Muslim strongholds from Uzbekistan to mongolia practically disappeared . Similar examples in Spain and Mallorca .Better to keep religion as a personal matter and not one for the state.

Lo and behold, a person who in every right, can express his personal opinion is taken for a ride by people who are mostly rhetoric-driven by mass media without any in depth insight - Shallowness is all I can see in this world or else Modi and Trump would never have reached the highest office.
