Muslim women defy Donald Trump with viral campaign #CanYouHearUsNow

The hashtag started trending on Twitter after Trump decided Ghazala Khan was not "allowed" to speak at the DNC
02 Aug, 2016

Leave it to Donald Trump to hit a new low.

The presidential candidate (gulp) did not take kindly to the Democratic National Convention speech that was given by Khizr Khan, whose son Humayun Khan, an US Army Captain was killed in Iraq in 2004. Khan's wife, Ghazala joined him on stage but chose not to speak.

Of course Trump went ahead and assumed that she was not "allowed" to speak because the couple is Muslim.

In an Op-Ed in the Washington Post on Sunday, Ghazala clarified: "Donald Trump said that maybe I wasn’t allowed to say anything. That is not true. My husband asked me if I wanted to speak, but I told him I could not. My religion teaches me that all human beings are equal in God’s eyes."

Muslim women on Twitter weren't having any of it either, uh uh.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations called on Muslim women activists to set the record straight and “tweet about who they are and how they speak out.”

We've got some (read: a lot!) ladies of the law in the mix.

And some professors so they can mould young minds to NOT turn out like Trump.

Women from all walks of life really.

And let's not forget we've got a couple of Nobel Prizes under our belt too.

Can you hear us now, Mr. Trump? drops the mic

Well Done Girls. Proud of you. Trump must be thinking that earning billions for years could not protect him from this humiliation from these talented girls. True, money is not everything.

The US must hide it's face before the world for the fact that someone like Trump could even be considered suitable to stand for public office. Yes, there are plenty of boorish, misogynistic racists everywhere; but even we backward Third Worlders would not consider them in any way suitable for election to the highest office. In the eyes of the world, done immense damage has been done to America's moral standing...which is already irrecoverable even if Trump is defeated!

Why the need to justify? A fool made an ignorant comment and all of us got at the back foot to defend? How about if somebody else made a comment "look at Trump's wife, she wore a short dress. Maybe she had to wear a short dress to look good. Maybe she was forced!" Yeah, people would say what rubbish and move on. My point, just say what rubbish and move on!

Trump does not understand the pain of a mother who has lost her son fighting for this great country. He should send his son to Iraq or Afghanistan or Syria to fight against ISIS. Only then him and his wife would understand how difficult it is on a mother to remember her son.

Trump very skillfully avoided the attention from him and diverted towards Khan's wife. We should not have fallen trap into his trick. We should not have responded so strongly to his comments to Khan's wife. Unfortunately we are spending our energy answering Dump's silly objections and this is exactly what he wants.

Trump! Be on your guard as very slowly the wind has already started blowing against you and who knows when it turns into hurricane or tsunami for that matter. Let me pronounce in quite crystal clear terms without any ambiguity that I am not at all related to Khizar Khan who is Pakistani American now and spoke out in open at your election meet saying that his son serving US Army has been killed and quite naturally he demanded some appreciation for his son's sacrifice which was regretfully ignored and thus a new controversy has sprung up which in the long run can not be conducive to your election campaign.I think that in the changed circumstances you should show some soft corner for all those Americans who have died alike which, of course, will not bring back to life those who have died but at least their parents and other loved ones will appreciate your such noble gesture. Please hurry up if you agree with me lest it will be too late to undo the damage. Both candidates in the presidential race are bad news for a world reeling with hatred and injustice... Hillary Clinton having served as the Secretary of State in the Obama administration is responsible for the mess in Libya and destabilizing Syria. As a hawk among the Democrats aligned with the military-industrial complex she can be much worse for Middle East peace than a Trump who wants to have better relations with Russia to fight ISIL...

Is it not ironic that a MUSLIM man did Trump in. Trump started the fight and now he is losing big time. This is the beginning of his end. There are rumors swirling around that he may even drop out of the race.

@AHMAD KHAN In my opinion the reply was necessary as the election campaign has reached its critical and decisive stages. Any mistakes could be the winning factor for the other and this may well be nail in the coffin for Trump. In other situations I would agree we should not be defensive and ignore such rubbishes.
