We have girls in music we can be proud of. Zoe Viccaji and Sara Haider picked up LSAs not too long ago, and Meesha Shafi and Faiza Mujahid can belt out a number when the need arises.

We think a big part of their presence is owed to the original music divas, women like Hadiqa Kiani who pursued careers in music, despite the odds.

So this #ThrowBackThursday, we go back to her singing days and present to you Hadiqa, the diva that was!

Hadiqa's got some cool friends

Hadiqa travelled the world, and made some pretty important friends:

Here she is chilling with Danish boy band Michael Learns To Rock in Hong Kong

American R&B/pop group All4One were also her best buds

She also occasionally posed with local heroes like Edhi

Hadiqa had a girly phase

Just 'cos she hangs with the guys, doesn't mean she's a total tomboy...

There was also the time when she went Victorian with a slightly punk edge

' Girly-strange' is a style that Hadiqa may have invented

Hadiqa also had a blue phase

She must have thought that it's totally her colour**

...and sometimes matched her eyelids to them

At times, she'd also take out a matching set of beads...

But we think she's totally pulling off the shiny blue pants!

Nice, well credit to Hadiqa, occasionally I hear a Jordanian guy singing "Bohay Baryan" at work. :) and I had to translate some of it for him. One of my favourites as well. I wonder if Hina Nasrullan (My Most Favourite) and Hadiqa can sing together, what it will be like, new idea for Yousuf Sallahuddian Sb.

An absolute revolutionary. Not only is she a true image of a rebel woman in Pakistan but her heart is so pure. Just imagine that in this picture she is posing with Mr. Edhi and a decade later she herself became one of the country's most hardworking humanitarians, inspired by the local hero I am sure. P.S. I am a die hard fan who is desperately waiting for new music from one of the only true iconic figures in this country, we need to hear that charming voice like in Janan or that soul in Kamlee, we miss Hadiqa Kiani in music!
