Don't tell me to cover up, says Kangana Ranaut

Don't tell me to cover up, says Kangana Ranaut

The Katti Batti actress talks about her pet peeve during a racy shoot
16 Sep, 2015

Intimate movie scenes usually cause a stir, and actresses pull out all stops to nip any negative publicity in the bud. But some stars think the whole hulabuloo surrounding it is quite unnecessary. Unsurprisingly, the feisty Kangana Ranaut is one of them.

In a recent interview with film critic Anupama Chopra, she talked about the hypocrisy that surrounds the shoot of intimate scenes:

"I react to it (an intimate scene) when I read it. If I’m convinced about it and if I’ve got my character right, then it just flows through. Then it’s not like that as soon as I’ve done my scene I go ‘shawl kahan hai meri izzat bachaa lo! Meri cleavage na kisi ko dikh jaaye, bachaa lo mujhe!"

Not only that, she also pulls the leg of directors who behave like guardians of her morality as soon as she wraps up a racy scene: "There are some directors also like that. If you’re wearing short clothes and standing, they’d go ‘madam ko kuch do bhai’. Kyun do bhai? Why can’t you see me like this? It’s very ‘inko dhakaiye’. And I’m like I’ve shot the entire scene for half a day, it’s going to be out for everyone to see and you can’t see me in shorts?"

We have to say the girl makes a lot of sense. Kudos to Kangana for speaking her mind and making us all chuckle while she's at it!

Her next film, Katti-Batti is slated to release on September 18.

she can enjoy as much as she can because after few years younger actresses will be replacing her and no body will even look at her as she will be considered old for filmi roles.

Disagree.......on the set or in a film you are playing a character in a movie ( it's your job ) ......out of that environment you are YOURSELF, the two are different spheres.

@Parvez you mean she can't wear a bikini in her real life ? how would that matter even if she wears that in front of 100 people ? people with nice backgrounds and good character would even ogle at a girl in veil also leave the bikini apart.

@Parvez Well did u read the article ! It precisely speaks of a person out of a movie character being totally fine with his/her clothes. This overwhelming urge Men to play a protector and guardian has to go. What a women wears its her choice and no one has a right to dictate that in the name of right wrong or morals. Savvy.

Her growth is phenomenal. She started her career in tamil movies rather in differently and moved to bollywood only to reach the top like hemamalini.

As an actress and is paid and paid handsomely for her role. But not anything after recording her role. So, she must not disclose her vanity for nothing, even to the staff.

Indian and Pakistani culture teaches / develops dual personalities. They are confused and unable to decide which side they want to take. It causes many problems in the daily lives. The bottom line is their films don't represent the realities of the society they live in. Actresses demand respect by taking off their clothes on the screen, while in reality the well dressed (not shorts) people are more respectable in their society.

@Jai If she is at the beach she can wear bikini. There is a place and time for everything. You will not wear flip flop and shorts to a cocktail party?

indian women in general are more liberal than all south asian, middle eastern, african and central asian countries combined. indians are the giants in educational sector. i envy indians so much and wish Pakistanis walk on indian foot steps one day i hope its not too late for us. Apart from bollywood every time i see an indian man or woman in real life they talk about education or they are holding at least a college degree in engineering if not doctorate. when will pakistanis do that??

@jawad We are the same people from the same stock and intelligence level. The political divide is artificial. Religion a matter of personal & family choice. So no difference other than the socio economic factors that influence behaviour.
