‘Even Superman hates Israel’: Social media can’t believe the new Superman movie is ‘anti-Israel’
Superman is pro-Palestine, or so the internet would like to believe after watching the new James Gunn-directed Superman film that hit theatres this weekend. The film has several elements that have people on both sides comparing it to Israel’s war on Gaza, and social media can’t believe it.
Who would have thought the immigrant who embodies the qualities of justice and empathy would side with a people being annihilated by a powerful country backed by the US? Shocking.
People weren’t expecting this from a major production house like Warner Bros with the “most ‘American’ hero”, even though, director Gunn told everyone that Superman is an immigrant story.

Almost everyone agrees it’s anti-Israel.

Because the film wasn’t even subtle about it.

Some described it as a “major cultural moment”.

People spotted a lot of similarities between Superman’s fictional countries of Boravia and Jarhanpur and Israel and Palestine.

Some people said the storyline was “the most obvious pro-Palestine” content they’ve seen in a studio blockbuster.

Users hoped this would help wake more people up.

Others were just glad it existed.

And that this was the sentiment.

Many also reminded people that they can be real-life versions of Superman by fighting for the children of Gaza.

Have you watched Superman yet?
