Katrina Kaif's 'vintage inspired' sari is the wedding look we've been waiting for
Bollywood actor Katrina Kaif's recent wedding festivities have given desi girls a look-book of wedding outfits and while the bride looked gorgeous no matter what she wore, her outfits didn't exactly blow us away. She looked like every other Sabyasachi bride — until this breathtaking sari came along.
Kaif and husband Vicky Kaushal announced their marriage on December 9. They celebrated their wedding with close family and friends at the Six Senses Fort hotel in Jaipur and the bride has been sharing her wedding looks from the festivities ever since.
The actor was a Sabyasachi bride through and through. She opted for the Calcutta-based designer on her wedding day as well as at her haldi ceremony. The Namaste London recently shared another one of her Sabyasachi looks on Instagram, and for us, this was a clear winner out of everything she's worn so far. The bride wore a beautiful "vintage inspired" pink sari during her pre-wedding festivities.
Sabyasachi's Instagram account posted details about the sari we've fallen hard for. "Katrina Kaif pays tribute to her mother’s British heritage during the pre-wedding festivities," they shared. "Sabyasachi conceptualised and created a vintage-inspired couture sari with a trailing veil. Silhouetted like a white wedding gown, the pastel tulle sari is embellished with hand-cut English flowers, embroidered by craftswomen from Bengal and liberally sprinkled with semi precious gems and crystals.
"The ensemble took 40 artisans over 1800 hours to handcraft," the brand emphasised. And we believe it. The work is delicate and gorgeous, with subtle splashes of colour over the delicate tea pink fabric.
"The sari is paired with a statement uncut diamond choker detailed with opals and pale Russian emeralds, with matching earrings from Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery." All of Kaif's jewellery so far has been from Sabyasachi as well.
Kaif definitely killed the wedding-look game with this refreshing sari. Pairing it with a veil really elevated the overall appeal and impact and it is endearing to know that the outfit was made as an ode to Kaif's mother. The outfit was neither a traditional western wedding gown nor was it the traditional (or typical) sari we've become accustomed to seeing. This one is a special mix of both and is uniquely Katrina Kaif.
