After chaos surrounding Kartik Aryan's exit from the sequel to Bollywood hit Dostana, given his 'creative differences' with Dharma Productions, speculations suggest Akshay Kumar might be replacing him.

“[Filmmaker] Karan Johar has personally requested Akshay to come on board Dostana 2 and help him out, as lots of money has already been invested in the shoot of the film. So, in all likelihood, Akshay will join the cast,” a source revealed to the Hindustan Times.

According to the exclusive, the film script will also be changed since the previous one was tailored to fit Aryan's character.

“Karan is even ready to make changes to the script — which was earlier written keeping Kartik in mind — so that it fits Akshay’s character,” it had added.

Previously, following an announcement from Dharma Productions that said it would be maintaining a 'dignified silence' over the issue, Kangana Ranaut called out Johar via social media and slammed his intolerance for anyone who is an industry outsider. She extended her support to Aryan.

"Know that we are with you, the one who did not make you can’t break you either. Today you must be feeling lonely and targeted from all corners. No need to feel so, everyone knows this drama queen JO. You will do very well dear, trust your instincts and be disciplined. Much love," she had said.

Johar announced that he was dropping Aryan from his upcoming film Dostana 2, 20 days after shooting had begun. This came as a surprise and in contradiction to his previous statement where he announced being ecstatic to cast Aryan.

"I am excited to take the franchise forward with Kartik and Janhvi! This is our first film at Dharma with Kartik and we are very excited to work with him. I can’t wait to create some desi boy and girl madness with Kartik and Janhvi," he had said.

As of now, Dharma Productions has banned the Luka Chuppi actor and said it will not be working with him in the future.
