PIA crew member Touheed Daudpota went viral on social media after pictures were posted of him helping to soothe a crying baby on a flight from Karachi to Islamabad. He was recently recognised for his act of kindness by the UN.

The steward was declared the ‘He for She’ Champion by UN Women Pakistan — a branch of the United Nations that works for gender equality and women’s empowerment — which honoured him for displaying empathy, gender sensitivity, respect and care to a woman passenger.

Recently, the official PIA Twitter account celebrated the news with audiences by sharing a snippet of the ceremony.

"Upholding long traditions of '#GreatPeopletoFlyWith,'" they wrote.

This was a refreshing sight for the national flag carrier, which has previously been highlighted for its poor service.

Good job, the nation needs more men like you.

After some time it will come out that the baby was actually his and his wife called him to handle the baby.

This is excellent work by the PIA staff. However, this the second time this has happened in the history of PIA, when sometime in the early sixties an infant barely few weeks old had travelled alone and the PIA staff brought this infant safely and carefully from London to Karachi. Hence the logo "Great people to fly with "!

Very commendable act by the PIA crew. But why is it that any act unless it goes viral on social media then it's noticed by the concerned authorities?? Why didn't the flight purser notice it and sent appreciation for the steward? Why didn't the PIA management notice it in first place? The crew member seem to be of very senior age and must be serving for long time he got this reward only by luck as someone on the plane made that video!!
