Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari is engaged and made it official with a picture .

After much hoopla on social media with users falsely claiming Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari got engaged in secret, the day finally arrived and people at last got the much-anticipated first look at the groom and THE dress (which was not green as speculated).

The newly engaged shared a picture of her and her fiancé Mahmood Choudhry, with a portrait of her late mother former prime minister Benazir Bhutto in the background, on social media.

The ceremony took place at Bilawal House in Karachi, with Bakhtawar's father, former president Asif Ali Zardari, and her sister Aseefa in attendance.

Her brother PPP chairperson Bilawal, however, could only be virtually present as he tested positive for coronavirus earlier this week.

All the guests were asked to undergo a Covid-19 test beforehand and photography was not allowed.

After the engagement, the couple will also be hosting a mehndi, scheduled for January 27, 2021, at the same venue — and all attendees have been requested to email a scanned copy of their negative Covid-19 PCR test result 24 hours prior to the event.

'An emotional day'

The bride-to-be tweeted ahead of her engagement earlier on Friday.

"Very sentimental and emotional day. So grateful for everyone’s love and prayers. Especially our PPP family whom I know are eager to participate. InshAllah this is only the beginning - will be able to celebrate in a post Covid world. Please keep SMBB and our family in your prayers," she wrote.

Bakhtawar's beau is Mahmood Choudhry, "the son of Mohammad Younas and Begum Suraiya Choudhry who hail from the old town of Lahore, Pakistan. Mr Younas migrated to the United Arab Emirates in 1973 where through hard-work he established businesses in the construction and transport industry," the formal announcement read.

The party also revealed that Mahmood was the last born of 5 siblings and born in the city of Abu Dhabi on July 28, 1988 (which makes him 32 years old).

"He completed his primary schooling in Abu Dhabi and secondary schooling in the United Kingdom. Mahmood further went on to study law at the University of Durham."

Choudhry's country of residence will remain the UAE, where he runs businesses in construction, finance and tech, the party confirmed.

Congratulations. A negative Covid-19 test required for all who attend this engagement party but no concern for masses who attend PDM Jalsas. Utterly disgraceful.

Come and see Sindh you will see how emotional people get when they don't have basic necessitates of life and it is down right painful to see this as a human and as a Sindhi specially. Zardari party is perhaps the most corrupt party of Pakistan without a shadow of a doubt pray that they get rooted out of my Sindh soon, no more Sindhi card enough with all this.

Best of luck Bakhtawar on your engagement ceremony. Yes it is an emotional day for not having loved ones around - but life is such and be grateful. A day also to remember the needy and helpless.

Good for you Bakhtawar - the irony of marrying a person your grandfather deemed unsuitable to be called Muslim. Hope we can change the laws to treat minorities with dignity.

Bakhtawar’s engagement was indeed an emotional day due to one reason that Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto (Shaheed) was not there to attend the occasion. Being a parent I can imagine that how much every one including Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari and Asifa Bhutto Zardari must have missed their mother. Life moves on but without the presence of any of the parent, no matter how important the event and the occasion was, one could not enjoy when some one is missing among the immediate family members. Apart from politics, no matter who belongs to which political party, a human being will always miss their near and dear ones. Bakhtawar is equivalent to my own daughter and my prayers are that the couple should spend a peaceful and happy life after they get married. The social media should not speculate any thing about the newly wedded couple and leave them alone. After Bakhtawar will be gone from Bilawal House, Asifa would be left alone to look after her father and brother.

Again the people of Pakistan are celebrating family politics of PPP that delivered them nothing but poverty, disgrace and corruption.

@Abbas Khan Mr. Abbas Khan, " Congratulation to both. ! I admire her Grand Father and her mother, both were very highly intelligent and loved Pakistan. Tell your brother to stay away from politics. " Grandfather, Mr. (late) Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto broke Pakistan because he was a power hungry person and mother Ms. (late) Benazir Zardari was convicted by the Swiss court on corruptions because she was corrupt to the core and bone.

@Imtiaz Ali Khan Mr. Imtiaz Ali Khan, You are 100% right. Sindh-Card is loosing its effectiveness gradually because the inhabitants of the rural areas of Sindh are realising that they have been misused in the name of Sindh-Card and they are without the basic necessities, water, education, health service, etc., by the most corrupt small regional political party PPP for decades.
