People think PIA's breakfast isn't Pakistani enough

People think PIA's breakfast isn't Pakistani enough

They want anda paratha or halwa puri instead

While airline meals aren't known to be the tastiest, people still take them very seriously.

PIA has learned that lesson after its latest advert, bearing a photo of a cheese omelette, sausages and beans, promised that the airline's breakfast will "serve you a taste of home".

The backlash was immediate with people pointing out that the meal wasn't even a little bit Pakistani:

And then there was critique that the photo's aesthetics were quite off:

There was also this astute observation:

Sausages are processed meat which is not at all healthy. Instead give a simple breakfast of toast and omelette with butter and jam on the side.

Bangers and baked beans? A fried egg on a toast or paratha?? That's quintessential British working class breakfast of a cheap variety. A new low for PIA. Even imitation requires some thinking and innovation.

PIA should serve for breakfast what the people in the middle east eat for breakfast. Parantha is not very Pakistani either.

British white people will probably never travel in PIA. So it's better if PIA serves Arab breakfast.

Nice, it will remind me of Britain (my home) on the way back form Pakistan. Only issue is that the pia flights back are at 10:40/11:40am so almost dinner time. If only they served fish and chips for lunch or tea.

How many people in Pakistan have this breakfast at home?. This breakfast has nothing to do with Pakistani cuisine or Pakistan. This is an English breakfast without bacon and furthermore, the sausages look horrible and the beans look revolting. Who is telling PIA what to serve as breakfast? I have lived in the UK for 30 years and the ONLY breakfast I want from PIA is Paratha and half fried egg. Is that so difficult?. PIA has lost the battle with other airlines and it looks like the management has lost their brains too.

Beans and sausages?! Lol. I remember that being served at my college cafeteria, and I also remember not a soul eating it. Whoever thought of, or okayed, this for onboard meals, needs to be fired for being totally clueless.

The story is, a poor lord travelled on PIA and asked for english breakfast, hence, the new menu. Just kidding. Pakistanis love their food, please bring back our allo puri and halva in the menu.

Being a Pakistani American, Ain't nothing wrong wid it. That Dakota Beans and Sausage with scrambled eggs and cheese does look appetizing, maybe some pancakes with maple syrup to top it all off, that would be nice.

Don't get overboard. Egg and paratha in perfect conditions is too much to ask mid-flight. One can opt for puri with channa and halwa, which is more manageable and the original taste will be served as well. Here in the West, bhaturey/pathurey, that are exact replica of puri can be served on any occasion and original taste i.e. out of karahi is preserved. Tell PIA to get in touch with me, but I will not offer to help with my secrets unless and until there's a change of government!!!!

Not sure why people expect fancy Pakistani breakfast on an airline. There are certain things like logistics which make it impossible to serve egg/paratha on board a plane.

this is a confused nation's attitude which is reflective of social divide, which originates from our divided educational system between madrassas, govt skl to western education. our ppl r still after Pratha & Puri mid-flight. ppl need to know inflight entertainment isn't limited to tasty food. plz ur not flying fr puri pratha. food is supposed to be convenient to fill up ur tummy nt make mess. PIA made it worse thanks too poor graphics in pic.

I know they are cost cutting but that should not have involved an amateur photographer. The picture looks miserable. I will probably not fly PIA just to avoid this breakfast which by the way does not remind me of home (unless I live in UK). Looks like the person who wrote the caption was also amateur.

My ideal breakfast on PIA Flights would be based on two choices: 1) orange juice, fruit yogurt, omelette stuffed with lightly spiced chicken mince, couple of lightly spiced aloo tikka ( lightly sprayed with olive oil and baked in the oven), couple of pieces of low fat shirmals followed by tea/coffee/soft drinks. 2) orange juice, fruit yogurt, cereal with milk, low fat milk bun, butter, jam/marmalade followed by tea/coffee/soft drink.

I like this breakfast - easy to eat, filling, no mess, light on the tummy. ideal during a flight! The mushroom omelette served is a favorite too as somebody already mentioned here. an option of pancakes with marmalade/maple syrup is practical also. halwa puri etc is fine but no way to anda paratha, too heavy to eat up there. And for the cynics - yes we do have our own local Pakistani frozen food/deli brands producing sausages/hot dogs, salami, pepperoni etc. available everywhere in marts, grocery shops, deli's since years now. All totally halal!

@M.Rmad, yeah, when you cut cow or buffalo in Islamic way, mince it’s meat and make its shape like saudages. This makes them halal.
