Remember True Blood? It's being made into a musical

Also, did you know Benedict Cumberbatch was almost the star of the show?

It's been 10 years to the debut of the vampire thriller True Blood and it's not over yet.

Deadline reports the show's creator Alan Ball has revealed that a musical version is in the works.

“It tells the story of vampires coming out of the closet,” Ball said on the 10th anniversary screening of the pilot episode at Vulture Festival in Los Angeles on Sunday.

“Ultimately it really departs from the book, because people aren’t ready, and they’re too bigoted and they end up going back in to the closet.”

However, Alan did not clarify whether it will be a reboot of the show in a musical form, a special musical episode or an Broadway performance. But we have a feeling True Blood fans will be okay with whatever happens.

The musical will be helmed by composer Nathan Barr - who did the music for the show - and Alan's heard it's "pretty good."

Alan Ball also did some interesting trivia at the screening, revealing some stars who were almost cast in the show.

"Benedict Cumberbatch came and read for Bill," said Ball.

Others who almost made the cut were Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence.

As of yet there is no release date for the musical.
