Tabla player Babar Khanna, popularly known for being a longstanding member of the Coke Studio house band, was beat up and threatened outside his residence in Lahore, he revealed in a Facebook live video last night.

"I have been threatened at my house today," says Khanna, elaborating that shots were fired at his house, bricks were hurled at its gate and he was roughed up by unknown people.

"I don't know who those people are," he emphasises in the video, in which he made no mention of possible motives for the attack.

Khanna's neighbours corroborate his account, saying that some eight to 10 young men arrived on motorbikes outside his house, beat him him and hurled abuses at him.

"This is a travesty. Babar bhai is a well-respected individual in our neighbourhood. We are extremely terrified by [the hooligans]," said a neighbour.
