Twitter had paid tribute to the victims of the tragic Mastung massacre.

Salman Ahmad chimed in but his tweet did not get the reaction he was expecting.

The singer shared the news with a quote from his classic 'Junoon', comparing the victims of the incident to martyrs makings a sacrifice for freedom. And it did not go down well with his fans.

The tweet was called out for being insensitive to the victims of the attacks, with Twitterati appalled at his statement.

Salman Ahmad has since defended his post, standing by his comparision of the victims to shaheeds.

The singer felt that his tweet was not at all ill-timed and made sense. He did not hold back on defending himself to the point of responded to those offended.

But Twitter isn't convinced, especially since all they want him to know is that a terrorist attack and collateral damage for a bigger cause are two very different things.

It's as simple as this;

May be he couldn't explain himself or the public did not get the jist of what he wanted to say,i think what he wanted to say is that with these sacrifices we will get liberated from an era of terrorism and corruption and interference's from our enemies.

people are being silly, I understand perfectly what Salman is saying. The war against the barbarism of the TTP is a war of Freedom for us all. Salman is absolutely correct.; Qurbani ki bahon mein milti hai azadi. In the arms of sacrifice do we find freedom! He is simply saying freedom has a cost. Mastung is one of those costs.

Any innocent death - whether or caused when someone took a risk - is considered shahadat. Whether or not you glorify death by this cause or that cause is a moot point. I think the twitterati have gone overboard on this one. I don't see how Salman's tweet can be construed so negatively. Besides, the person killed had been a staunch pro-Pakistan political leader - one who had no desire to hide is patriotism (unlike some others). That is all the more justification for Salman's comment.

I do not know what went through Salman Ahmed's Mind. I would interpret the quote in a positive way. People who died were exercising their right to assemble in a peaceful manner as a citizen of Pakistan. Since the freedom and independence of Pakistan was achieved with love and passion. These people gave their life exercising the freedom and their right to assemble in a peaceful manner. I would say they are brave people who went ahead with their life and challenged the terrorists and the enemies of Pakistan to protect the rights of all the Pakistanis.

There is a world of difference between terrorism and jihad. All those poor people who died in this horrific attack did not sign up for it.
