Updated 05 Jun, 2018

Social media has been in outrage since the man accused of attacking law student Khadija Siddiqui was acquitted on Monday.

Khadija was stabbed 23 times by her classmate Shah Husain in Lahore in May 2016 in retaliation for her refusal of his advances. While he was sentenced to five years in prison for attempted murder, the sentence was overturned yesterday and Husain now walks free.

Many have taken to Twitter to express their shock at the Lahore High Court's verdict and support for Khadija, making #JusticeForKhadija the number one trending topic on Twitter.

Among the Twitterati were many celebrities who spoke up about the matter as well.

I wonder if there is an option for Chief Justice to take action against judges involved in it. SC is taking action against every institution beside judges and lawyers

he must be punished, regardless of where he comes from and there could be no mercy for this crime. Let's start a twitter campaign and we will not stop till the justice is served. This must be stopped before he ends up killing someone.

Shame on us and shame on the judge who acquitted the killer despite having sufficient evidence submitted .
