Shah Rukh Khan has taken some time off after Zero and it's because he says his heart just isn't in it at the moment.

The Bollywood actor was earlier rumoured to have signed on to the Rakesh Sharma biopic, Saare Jahan Se Accha, as well as Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Sahir Ludhianvi biopic, but now Khan has put all rumours to rest.

“I have no film with me right now. I am not working on any film," he said.

"Usually what happens is when your one film is coming to an end, you begin work on your next film and I get involved within 3-4 months. But this time I am just not feeling like... My heart doesn't allow me to.." added Khan. "I just felt that I should rather take time out, watch films, listen to stories and read more books.

It's not just to unwind but also to give time to his family, he explained. "Even my kids are in their college stage... my daughter is going to college and my son is about to finish his studies. So I just want to spend more time with my family."

Let's see when the King of Bollywood decides to come back to the big screen.

Fair enough, every nature of work requires a sane human being to take time off and recharge. Only cows and buffaloes can plough fields without a break.

You have proved yourself a great actor. Films can be a hit or flop but you are now far ahead. It's good to take a break after so many years of hectic work and being self made MashaaAllah. Stay happy and focused.

If you still want hero roles its not going to be unless you produce your own films. Transition into chrachter roles or manage your kkr cricket franchise and production company.

I think its best for him to take time and reconsider acting. He needs to reinvent himself and look up to Aamir Khan who has been making movies with substance. I am a big fan of SRK all my life but his recent roles and choice of selection surprises me.

Shahrukh Khan must take the example of Dilip Kumar. Dilip had developed acute depression after acting in so many sad films and was then advised by doctors to either take comedy films or retire within him. He did the both.

It's economics 101. SRK ruled every single heart in India till a few years ago. Then a journalist used him to malign the then govt. An he had a fall out, with his audience. He disrespected, maligned the very people who made him everything he today is. Lots of people used to go to cinema just because the movie had SRK. That connection was smash broken that day. Now people know what SRK is, how he thinks, feels. No more emotional connect with SRK and it shows in the performance of his movies. With such dismal returns on his prijects he ain't the star he was. It's the death of a star effected by himself.

There is an alternative - retire completely, you have made billions (Indian rupees). Take your family to cruises , enjoy life with your family , remaining time spend on social welfare. 1/3 of Indians are living below poverty line.

with the rise of new stars like Ranveer Singh, SRK is smart enough to envisage that its time to hang the boots. He is a super rich tycoon with enough money in banks, IPL and production house and does not need to continue working mediocre roles. I think its best to retire with dignity and as a legend.

Its not the career end of King, he just needs to change his team who finalize the scripts for him and also he needs to change him self, when he know that something is not logical then why he putting his time, efforts, money and ruining the career with the movies like harry met sejal, zero ( after interval it was hell) Shahrukh needs to take his business mind out-of the films sript and requires to think from the audience point, he made a big mistake to refuse the script based on (Rakesh Sharma biopic) But if mr khan thinks about the business perspective then he should be smart like Amir khan, at least he made some good cinema with good business (not talking about thags - galti sab se ho jati hai) but Shahrukh was a king and would be the king forever, and we all still love him. Best of luck Shahrukh Khan

I always think Great Actresses and Actors who become our hero's and help guide us through their movies should be above us... meaning they should live, and look younger to pass on the qualities of straight and proper life... But the Reality is they seem to sacrifice more by cramming one movie after another and before you know it they are old or failing in health... my heart goes out to these hero's and heroine's of film.. However, printing a bi-line as you did about about Khan's heart is mean and a cheap trick to get viewers... Not right Dude...

Nice decision by Shah Rukh khan...its human nature that humans run for the fame, wealth and materialistic lifestyle..and many desires ..but anything which is materialistic in nature doesn't satisfy our inner soul.. After getting all things, sometimes we feel this was nt important...important is something else. Like our family, relationship & religion... I think the career of SRK has driven away him from his inner self..so he should work more on himself...in fact,,,humans are under construction until destruction of their breaths...!

Thank you uncle SRK. Frankly, I walked out of Zero. I thought we deserved a refund for wasting money on this movie. It seems Godfather Yash Raj's death has impacted you adversely and brought the real in you. Also, your makeup, aging and the nature of roles are not in keeping with the times. Frankly, it would be a great financial risk for anyone to cast you in a lead role!

One emerging trend for people in middle ages is to take a sabbatical. They want to catch up on things they feel they lost or just glossed over. They want to wink in all those experiences. Inspite of being with family many of us are cut off from family. And for an actor, they need to get inspired. Ideas, emotions, new experiences are those things that define us. It's just an age and stage of life thing and all of us pass through these. Younger people won't understand.
