Deepika Padukone shares first look as acid attack survivor as film Chhapaak begins shooting

The actor will be playing acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal in her upcoming film Chhapaak

Deepika Padukone had earlier revealed that she is producing a biopic on acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.

The actor is also portraying Agarwal in the movie titled Chhapaak and now has shared its poster along with her first look.

Padukone features in the poster as the acid attack survivor, with prosthetics to mimic the post-burn marks. This does make one wonder why the producers couldn't just get an actual survivor to portray the role though.

The film is being helmed by Meghna Gulzar, known for her work in Raazi.

Chhapaak will release on January 10, 2020.

There would be multiple reasons why they would have Deepika portray the role versus an actual.survivor. First, movie making and acting is complex and not easy to just do off the cuff. that is why actors perform in biopics because they have the experience of performing in front of a camera as well as all the other technicalities that are involved. Secondly this is a commercial movie and one reason producers sign up big names is to get the extra mileage thy can translate to a ready audience and revenues.

1. Why not a victim be signed? 2. Make money in the names of victims?? Or would the money go the tackle the problem in some way ???
