Saba Qamar bags Filmfare nomination for Hindi Medium

Seems like Filmfare is giving credit where credit is due.

Saba Qamar, who got rave reviews and critical acclaim for her role in Hindi Medium alongside Irrfan Khan has bagged a Filmfare nomination!

The Pakistani actor will be battling it out with Alia Bhatt (Badrinath Ki Dulhania), Sridevi (Mom), Bhumi Pednekar (Shubh Mangal Saavdhan), Vidya Balan (Tumhari Sulu) and Zaira Wasim (Secret Superstar) in the 'Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female)' category.

Hindi Medium managed to rack up five nominations including 'Best Film' and 'Best Director'; Raees and Mom also got nominated in five different categories. However, surprisingly neither Mahira Khan or Sajal Aly were nominated for their respective roles.

Saba Qamar recently bagged Best Breakthrough at the Masala Awards late last year owing to her smashing Bollywood debut opposite Irrfan Khan in Hindi Medium.

I watched this movie and enjoyed it. Saba Qamar did justify her selection too. My vote is for Saba. Director and Producer were good in selecting Saba Qamar for the role.

I loved Saba Qamar in Hindi Medium. Her acting skills are excellent. It's not a surprise that Mahira didn't get a nomination because she was basically only in the songs of Raees. Sajal Aly acted very well in Mom but had a supporting role. Indians like myself like the inclusion of good talent from Pakistan as it makes the quality of our films better.

There is still ban on pak artists, last time the MNS did not let them nominate fawad, however, the stand of MNS had not change, they will not let her win. Remember that all pak artists have done great work in pak dramas and films is the reason that BW noticed them! Give pak artists all the priase in pak that is more important ! make pak brand strong!

Great see one of My Favorite actress from Pakistan Nominated for Film fare Award. It is well deserved and I sincerely hope that she gets the award. There is no one more desrving then her on the list

@Abdul Karim She did neither criticize Pakistan orPakistanis all she was saying that she was singled out for extra check at Tablizi airport due to her Pakistani passport. Similar experiences have been expressed by others who hold Pakistani passports.
