Pakistan reacts to historic SC ruling disqualifying Nawaz Sharif

Earlier today, the Supreme Court announced that the prime minister was disqualified from holding his office
Updated 28 Jul, 2017

Pakistan is coming to grips with the Supreme Court’s long-awaited verdict on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s political future – which, as of now, isn’t looking good.

Earlier today the Supreme Court announced that the prime minister was disqualified from holding his office. The judges ruled that the prime minister had been dishonest to parliament and the courts and could not be deemed fit for his office.

Justice Khan said the bench had recommended that all material collected by the JIT would be sent to an accountability court within six weeks, and that cases would be opened against Captain Muhammad Safdar, Maryam, Hassan and Hussain Nawaz as well as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. A judgement should be announced within 30 days, he said.

Reactions to the verdict were swift and came from the Sharif family...

and other politicians...

and journalists...

and celebrities...

and of course, the general public

My congratulations to brave SC, JIT, impartial journalists, Imran Khan and entire Pakistani nation for an excellent outcome by disqualifying Nawaz Sharif from politics for long time. All this done because of Nawaz Sharif's corrupt practices. This is a good start for corruption free Pakistan.

Multi Billionaire PM/Family along with Zardari/group live lavish style lives, while in Pakistan many people still drink water from animal ponds, along side animals. Sorry no mercy needed for these grand corruption looters, humanity is suffering due to their evil acts. Good Riddance! Thank you Almighty!

Some people think they are not accountable to anybody, they simply forget that they are accountable to every body through institutions specifically developed by the society over a period of time.

IK is advised not to go for overkill. He should publically thank GOD that evil is removed and your first mission is achieved. Next he should appear in courts to quash all the allegations levelled against him. Then he should contact MQM P to side with him in NA along with his old friends. he should shake hands with PML Pagara Sb. He already has the confidence of PML Q . If PPP acts wisely, you have a better chance to woo in few PML N votes. If you want to Celebrate , it should be a show of humility. No more NS go or Gali mein shor as the criminal is out and umpires have raised their fingers.

Sorry folks not historic decision, it is a decision 30-40 years behind its time. Secondly, whole of Pakistan bureaucracy is polluted with corruption to the core and other heads should role and be fired as well such as FRB, FIA and NAB, otherwise this judgement has very little meaning.

The biggest amount of corruption took place under PPP. Why is Zardari not being brought to justice. For dacades Sind Government has been the most corrupt - nobody has faced accountability there.

It is good start, but do not stop here, and it is not enough to stop here, in fact law should be that if all of your properties and belongings you can not prove that you acquired it legitimately then it should be confiscated.
