Last night Pakistan was grieved by news that celebrated humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi passed away at the age of 92.

Edhi was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2013 but had been unable to get a transplant due to frail health. He was receiving treatment at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT).

As the night went on, tributes to the great man and his legacy poured in from across Pakistan as the country was united in its shock and dismay at this great loss.

Politicians and activists paid their respects:

As did the country's actors and entertainers:

Adul Sattar Edhi epitomized humanity at its' very best. He rose above every petty consideration, above caste, creed and religion, over colour of the skin and nationality to serve humanity. Young and old, firm and infirm, rich and poor as living and dead, all benefitted from his generosity and selfless service. He loved and respected life whether it was human life or animal life. He was the modern day saviour and messiaha for life. May he rest in peace and continue to inspire millions in his death as he did in his life.

Saddened to learn the demise of Great / humble, inspiring & Noble Edhi Sahab . We need people like Edhi sahab more during this turbulent time. He has shown to the world that humanity is the biggest thing in the world . Greatest tribute to this great man would be if we are able to follow the path shown by him.

Today Pakistan has lost one Nobel guy ( Abdul Sattar Edhi) who has done outstanding charity work in Pakistan and out side Pakistan and set new heights for all of us . The key challenge for all of us is to continue his mission and follow his foot steps , like Simplicity / honesty. Lead by example Help poor people irrespective of race culture, religion. Generosity. In order to gift tribute him , We need to come forward and donate maximum amount to Edhi welfare centre , so they can continue the Abdul Sattar Edhi late legacy and move this organisation to the next level Big loss for the country and role model for all of us Best regards Mohsin
