A few weeks ago, this rickshaw driver took Facebook by storm.

The reason for the furore? His exceptional singing talent, which even won the admiration of Lata Mangeshkar across the border.

Such high praise overwhelmed Master Aslam, even though he's no stranger to the limelight.

Share with us your thoughts about his journey in and out of music below.

Dear Coke Studio, Rohail Hyatt et al Greetings from Boston. Master Aslam clearly needs to be in the recording studios, not driving a rickshaw on the street. He does not require words of sympathy and good luck wishes from DAWN readers. He basically needs a platform which only you can provide. Please take the initiative and get him there with you. I will try and work out something in India. Check out www.opnayyar.org Thanks much.

Although it is an honor to earn the living with hard work and every profession including Ricksha driving deserves equal respect, but please do not insult him by calling a 'Rickshaw wala'. To me he is more honorable than others because not only he felt no shame in doing any work to earn honest living but also he did not quit singing even in tough times. Music is a divine gift of God to all human beings and living things which soothes minds and touches hearts. So whosoever provides this pleasure must be respected and served properly. My salute to Master Aslam and best wishes.

Running water chooses its own course,so does a hidden talent. we cast so many aspersions on young- social-media-addicts; but sometimes it helps break the traditional barriers, as in this rare talent's case, and receives instant acclaim. Master Aslam, following the footsteps of Sajjad Ali, first must sing some popular songs(like that sung by ustad barkat Ali Khan and likes),and then work on his own renditions, having established himself as a gifted singer who can sing iconic singers' melodies with skillful ease.
