Romanian photographer capturing diversity of women's beauty is in India

Mihaela Noroc has travelled the world to capture the natural beauty of women from all walks of life
04 Jan, 2016

Touring photographers are fast becoming a trend.

There's Brandon Stanton of Humans of New York fame who documents the everyday lives and experiences of ordinary people, and does a whole lot of good in the process. There's Nataly and Murad Osmann, the famous hand-holding couple of Instagram whose globetrotting adventures are a viral sensation.

And then there's Mihaela Noroc, a 30-year-old professional photographer from Romania whose interest in "discover(ing) the sincere and authentic side" of people has led to her Atlas of Beauty project.

My first days in India, with The Atlas Of Beauty. It's gonna be a colourful journey.

Noroc has travelled the world, from "Western Europe to African Tribes, and from Rio de Janeiro to China" to capture the natural beauty of women from all over the world.

The photographer is traversing South Asia and recently landed in India, Buzzfeed reports.

And her photographs reveal the country's diversity:

These days I explore the streets of Mumbai, India. #TheAtlasOfBeauty #India #AroundTheWorld

Today in Delhi, India. #TheAtlasOfBeauty #AroundTheWorld #India

Noroc hopes her project serves as "an inspiration for all women that try to be themselves."

You can find the same beauty in India which you find in Pakistan but you can never find the similar beauty in Pakistan which you find in India. India has diversity in everything. Visiting India is like visiting many countries. That's the beauty of India which is very unique. You can find every human race in India....

People, don't start with comparing Pakistan and India or for that matter any other country. Its quite a racist attitude putting down anyone for their looks. Simple everyday people have a charm that cannot be compared to any made up fake toned person. What nature gave anyone is just that, not an accomplishment of the individual. That racist thinking is the difference between us south asians and the modern western thinking.

The Photographer should be commended for presenting the women in their natural ways. These pictures are not presented as a beauty pageant pictures. These ladies are mothers, daughters,, students doing their own things, in their natural surrounding. No matter which race, religion, place they represent, one sees beauty in each of them. Pl do not degrade this by comparing each other and create a beauty pageant .

Women and beauty it is all around us in every land on God's green earth. The beauty of women lies not just in their appearance (although some think so) it lies in what this gender has been to humanity, loving and caring mothers. Men have been in-charge of world's politics and what a mess we have made. Our salvation at least to some extent lies in educating and empowering the women the world over. I salute women of every nation, color and race, they are all beautiful to me.

I am always amused every time comparisons are made between our societies in the ‘comments’ column. Some of us try to highlight that we share same roots, whereas others insist that we are vastly different. However, one thing we share in common is that we pathetically vie for Goras’ endorsement! Grow up and smell the coffee people!
