Despite Reham Khan's absence, her film Jaanan's shoot goes strong

Reham's departure from Pakistan is temporary and has no effect on Jaanan's production, says co-producer Imran Kazmi
31 Oct, 2015

Reham Khan's departure from Pakistan after her split from her husband PTI Chairman Imran Khan may have put a question mark on the minds of some about the fate of her film Jaanan's production, but her co-producers are confident that its shoot will go on as planned.

"The film has Masha'Allah successfully completed its first spell; the entire production team is currently busy planning for the second spell which should hopefully start in a month's time," informed her co-producer Imran Kazmi of IRK Films about the film's current status. "As the popular phrase goes: 'the show must go on' - and putting all and any speculation to rest, I would like to say that this news will not affect the film in any manner whatsoever."

Although it is unclear when Reham will return to Pakistan, Kazmi hopes that she won't be gone for long.

"Reham should Insha'Allah be back soon," he continued, "But despite the initial minor roadblocks and setbacks which every production faces, our team is now completely in sync; everyone has their assigned tasks and I'm proud to say they are proficient enough to handle all production-related issues in either Reham's or my absence."

He added, "Our director Azfar Jafri, though concerned, is professionally unperturbed by this news and is currently working on creating the first-look teaser trailer for the film. This should be out soon."

Talking more about the initial phase of the shoot, Kazmi revealed, "Reham only had to visit the sets of Janaan a couple of times during the first spell. She and I both were incredibly impressed by the rushes we saw; the dedication of all the actors, our writer - who was with us during the shoot, the production team, director and our fantastic DOP Rana Kamran."

So, despite Reham's absence, Jaanan's remaining shoot continues as per schedule, says Kazmi:

"I don't think it's an appropriate time to discuss the level of her involvement in the remaining spell, given everything, but let me assure everyone who's reading: this is a project and story that is quite close to her heart. She and I conceived it together. I am fully committed to completing this project; Reham has complete faith in me and my team. As a parting note: she was, is, and will always be a part of Janaan. This is just the beginning of our collaborative efforts."

Wishing all the best to Reham and entire crew of the project. Reham has been a great fan of success of bollywood, and the impact it has made world wide. Bollywood has done wonders to take Indian culture and values, to world at large. She wants to do the same with Pakistani movie industry. A glorious effort indeed. Art makes an impact, when its honest and original. Work hard and believe in yourself. Rest will follow. Good luck.

@Ajay vikram Singh Bollywood makes films because there are people in Bollywood who are crazy about making films and who wants to entertain people of India.Indians made film for the local audience and at the most Indians living abroad, they don't have any idea that others too are liking it or not, while making films they don't have any thought about that they are showing the Indian culture or people of other ethnicity liking it,as I say Indians make films only for Indian audiences,if others liking good and if not liking doesn't matter, views of other people doesn't affect Indian films.

A major psychological and political mistake. The Great Khan has demonstrated limited maturity and negotiation competence. He should have accepted her as an able and energetic partner in politics too, as he did in the rest of his life. What can Paks expect from him should he face a critical decision in context of Pakistan? Will he cut and run there too? Paks don't need another flip flop wishy washy leader.

From the day one we knew Imran was making a mistake by choosing Reham as a life partner. Probably a straight forward house wife with no ambitions is going to suit him . Or is he confused himself what does he wants?

The Khan has shown his very inner self in this unfortunate episode. Now, he should expect all sorts of female revenges.

@Satt - LOL. You comment is funny. Everyone watches everyone else in modern interconnected world. Yes, we all do things for our own, but in the process we define who we are, by our acts. And others observe it, acknowledge it, and if its good, appreciate it. For example, Americans make movies for themselves, but Hollywood is a great show-case of american values and thoughts. Whole world watches it.

@Satt How ignorant of you. Should not write anything if you don't know nothing. Indian movies are well received in entire Middle East, Africa, part of Europe, Korea, Japan, China, England and now in most American markets. They are purely for entertainment purpose and are not out to compete with anyone. Personally I don't like most of them but I see many foreigners crazy about them. I know because I am in entertainment business. Now Pakistani movies are also making inroads and my friend most of them follow Bollywood style.

People should cooperate and accept the decision that the couple had made for themselves. Only they know what is good for them. This is something very personal.

This film was reportedly one of the reasons for IK-RK divorce. Rumours have it that RK used IK's position to secure Rs 80 million from Faisal Vavda to produce this movie. When IK found out about it he was furious. That, combined with revelations about RK's fake degree and other things, accelerated the collapse of the marriage.

@Last Word So will BBC where she was working before her move to Pakistan. She probably did not learn about the current Pakistani environment which is way different than when she must have first left Pakistan. Being the wife of a politician, she lost some of her freedom and was being watched by many at all times. Associated with film is usually not considered a very respectable profession in Pakistan these days, however good a documentary she may have been making. We will see after the film is released. In the mean time, I wish both Reham and Imran the very best in their lives.

@Satt Have you heard of Channels in Middle east, such as MBC bollywood etc and do you know they have dubbed the films in Arabic not just Films alone even the serials. So do you mean the arabic dubbing is for the audience of the Indian sub-continent . Even their is a craze in Pakistan and among the Pakistanis living in the Middle east. So cheer up and enjoy even your Pakistani serials/dramas were quality products, and they have quite a good number of following from India and other countries.

Imran Khan took a difficult but correct step at the right time. I am glad he is not living with someone who is not listening to him. This divorce is certainly a very good new for Pakistan's well wishers.

One can be sure this divorce was a difficult step for both Imran and Reham. As a professional and savvy media personality, Reham will not let this situation impede Janaan's movie production/ release and we wish her all best! From what one hears from insiders re this divorce - it could have been a successful union if not for IK's sisters who may have instigated it. : ' ( Moreover, when a man is IK's age, he's usually set in his ways with little flexibility when it comes to a younger, dynamic and independent minded wife. Either way, we are deeply saddened and dismayed at this unexpected separation, and wish both brighter days ahead. Hopefully, despite this personal setback, Reham and Team Janaan will persevere and shine on!
