We've been itching to see a good rom-com for a while now and, judging from the trailer, it seems Shaandaar might be the answer to our prayers.

Not convinced if you want to head to the cinema to watch this Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer? If the enticing trailer wasn't enough to convince you, here are five cool tidbits that will probably pique your curiosity and interest:

1) Shahid and Alia play insomniacs in the movie

Can you think of any other Indian movie that has had two leads playing insomniacs? Yeah, neither can we!

Talking to Indian Express, director Vikas Bahl confirmed the buzz, adding, "Insomnia is something most people have gone through at some point in their life which makes the film and their characters extremely relatable."

Another fun fact: That's also the reason the filmmakers bought the rights of the popular track from the 1958 movie, Post Box 999 called 'Neend Na Mujhko Aaye' (picturised on Sunil Dutt and Shakeela). The song will be recreated around Shahid and Alia for the movie.

2) Alia was the director's second choice

It's hard to believe since we think the two look like an adorable pairing but apparently, Alia just landed the gig after the initial choice refused the role. Any guesses about who she was?

According to sources, Bahl had offered the role to Deepika Padukone first, who apparently turned the role down. Somehow, we feel like it may have been a blessing in disguise; Shahid and Alia seem to have great screen chemistry.

Boy, Deepika sure is going to regret it if the movie does well at the box office.

3) Shahid Kapoor and his dad will be sharing screen space for the first time

It is not a very known fact that Shahid is actually the son of veteran actor, Pankaj Kapur. Although Pankaj has directed Shahid before in the 2011 Mausam, this is the first time he will be appearing in front of the camera with his son as part of Shaandaar's ensemble cast; we are sure that the father-son duo is going to light up the big screen together!

Forget his pairing with Alia, how cute are these two?

4) Alia Bhatt put in a lot of intense gym hours for her bikini shot in the movie

it's no secret that the actress was on the healthier side of the scale before her debut movie, Student of the Year. If it wasn't enough that she lost 16 kilograms for her infamous Shanaya role, it seems like Bhatt shed even more pounds and got extra toned for Shaandaar.

We spotted her in a pink bikini in the trailer, looking fitter than ever before; in fact, she admitted she may have lost too much weight.

However, the Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania starlet then added: "I feel this is all a result of my detoxification spree. I have been working out and training really hard. But I guess it's good, since clothes look better on me now."

5) The plot revolves around a destination wedding

The movie has been shot in many picturesque locations such as Leeds, London and Poland. We know we're having no-vacay blues so we're hoping we can go on vacation vicariously through the upcoming flick.

@SHIRAZ You clicked on the headline. You read the story. You commented on it. You will also go and watch it. You will then complain how boring it was and they stole the story from South Korea and the songs from Pakistan. We all know how that works.

One other fact about Shahid Kapoor which many Indian and Pakistani readers may not know. From his mother's side, he is a descendant of the great Urdu poet Hali.

The movie seems to be loosly based on "Meet Joe Black" starring Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins and Claire Forlani 1995 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meet_Joe_Black
